Women’s Soccer Falls 3-0 at No. 7 John Brown

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – No. 7 John Brown scored a pair of early goals in the first 10 minutes and controlled the pace throughout as the Mid-America Christian women's soccer team fell to the Golden Eagles by a score of 3-0 at Alumni Field on Saturday night.

MATCH SUMMARY
  • First Half
    • Mid-America Christian had the first opportunity on-goal in the first five minutes, but Johanna Behrens was unable to put much power behind a shot from the right side of the goal as JBU's Caitlyn Logan scooped up her lone save of the match.
    • The Golden Eagles had an immediate response off of an Alair Love shot from the left side that bounced over MACU goalkeeper Jennifer Starwalt to just under the middle of the crossbar to make it 1-0 JBU just 5:07 into the contest.
    • JBU added to it when Lauren Walter's cross from the left side squirted out of the hands of Starwalt attempting a diving stop as it rolled to Gifte Pavatt open on the right side of the net, tapping it in to make it 2-0 just 9:45 in.
    • John Brown wrapped up its scoring in the 24th minute when Love crossed pass to Reynoso on the left side, who took one dribble past the defender and slipped a shot inside the left post from 10-yards out to cap the scoring at 3-0.
  • Second Half
    • MACU's only shot of the half came in the 77th minute, but Behrens put her attempt high and wide.
MATCH NOTES
  • John Brown outshot Mid-America Christian 18-2 with a 6-1 margin in shots on-goal.
  • Johanna Behrens was the only Evangel that attempted a shot in the contest with one being placed on-goal.
  • Jennifer Starwalt made three saves while conceding three goals.
  • The Evangels have dropped back-to-back road games, falling to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in Sooner Athletic Conference play while John Brown improved to 12-1 overall and 7-0 in league play.
