OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian volleyball team will look keep its momentum going into the second half of Sooner Athletic Conference play tonight as the Evangels will face off against Science & Arts at 6 p.m. inside the USAO Fieldhouse.

• Team Notes:
  • Since joining the Sooner Athletic Conference in 2007, Mid-America Christian is off to its best run through the first half of conference play, entering the midway point with a 7-3 conference mark. The previous best start the Evangels got off to came in 2019, when the Evangels went 6-4 through the first half before eventually ending the conference slate with a 12-8 record.
  • MACU is currently on a five match win streak and have only lost one set during that stretch, with that lone dropped set coming against No. 23 Oklahoma City back on Sept. 21.
  • Over the weekend, Hanna Foecker became the only player in the NAIA to surpass 400 kills on the season and is also the only player in the nation to be averaging more than five kills per set at 5.12. Foecker also impressively ranks 65^th in the NAIA in attack percentage at .285, despite being the only player in the nation with over 1000 attack attempts.
  • As a team, Mid-America Christian still ranks in the top 10 in the NAIA in kills (1046, 6^th), attacks (2944, 10^th), assists (973, 6^th), digs (1398, 8^th) and points (1328.0, 8^th).

  • Science & Arts struggled mightily through the first half of Sooner Athletic Conference play, going 1-9 with the lone win coming in a five-set victory at Langston on Sept. 28.
  • While the Drovers have been challenged in all facets of the game, one bright spot for USAO has been its ability from the service line. With 115 aces, USAO ranks 62^nd in the NAIA while their 1.72 aces per set rate places the Drovers 90^th in the nation.
  • One player that has made a pretty big impact in her first season is freshman setter Samantha Perez. Perez not only leads the team with 318 assists, but also has a team-high 28 service aces and ranks second the squad in total blocks with 34.
  • Mid-America Christian has dominated the series against the Drovers since USAO started its volleyball program in 2016. The Evangels are 13-0 all-time against Science & Arts and have won in straight sets in 11 of those 13 meetings. In their previous meeting this year back on Aug. 30, the Evangels cruised to a 25-14, 25-15, 25-20 win inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
