GREENVILLE, S.C. – The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced its All-Central Region Team on Thursday as senior outside hitter Hanna Foecker was named the Player of the Year, head coach Holly McKamie was tabbed as the Coach of the Year and overall three players were selected to the All-Region Team.
In her second season as the Evangels head coach, McKamie has led the MACU volleyball team to new heights in 2021. Currently with a 23-10 overall record, the Evangels have notched more wins this season than any other MACU team since the program moved up to the NCCAA Division I level in 2007. MACU has notched the most wins in the program since 2005, when the Evangels finished the year with a 23-16 overall record.
MACU also turned in their best finish ever since joining the Sooner Athletic Conference in 2007 as well, turning in a league mark of 14-6 to finish in a tie for fourth in the conference standings.
A 6-2 outside hitter from Borken, Germany, Foecker has put up unprecedented numbers in her third season with the program. Currently with 642 kills, Foecker has the most kills of any player that competes at any four-year institution, including NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, the NAIA and the NCCAA. Her 5.14 kills per set is also the highest clip in the NAIA and is just one of two players averaging more than five per set.
The SAC Co-Attacker of the Year is hitting the second-highest attack percentage on the team at .279, ranks third on the team in aces (33) and is also third on the squad in digs (261) as well as fourth in blocks (44).
A senior libero from Mineola, Texas, Plunk has continued to be a stalwart defender in the Evangels back row, leading the team in digs (620) and digs per set (4.96). Plunk needs just five more digs to match Shelbi Johnson for second on MACU's NAIA era single season record book and 51 to tie her own single season record set during the 2020-21 campaign.
A 5-10 sophomore, Stockhammer has pieced together one of the best seasons for a MACU setter in program history. With 1263 assists on a 10.1 per set average, the Klagenfurt, Austria native holds MACU's NAIA Era single season assists record, surpassing the previous record held by Calle Solie (1170) in 2010.
Stockhammer has made more than just an impact in the setting department. With 92 kills on a .280 attack percentage, Stockhammer holds the highest hitting percentage on the team and is on-pace for the fifth-best attack clip in a season during the NAIA era. Stockhammer also possesses the second-most service aces on the team with 37 and is just two away from moving into the program's single season top 10 list.
Mid-America Christian currently holds the top seed in the NCCAA Central Region and will be competing for the regional championship tonight in Point Lookout, Mo. The Evangels will face the winner of Sterling (Kan.) and College of the Ozarks (Mo.) for the right to compete at the NCCAA National Championships that will also be held in Point Lookout, Mo. from Dec. 2-4.
