GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Mid-America Christian volleyball team is putting together one of its best seasons on the court, but also in the classroom as four Evangels were selected to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Scholar-Athlete list on Wednesday.
The four recipients were graduate student outside Hanna Foecker and libero Maegan Plunk, senior defensive specialist Kaylie Walker and junior right side hitter Maddie Callicoat.
Foecker and Walker are earning their second straight Scholar-Athlete honors while Callicoat and Plunk are collecting their first honor.
The four honorees ties the program record for the most NCCAA Scholar-Athletes in program history, matching the 2017 team that placed Melissa Hoppal, Jasmine Pickett, Laurel Church and Mary Seifert (Burkhead) on the esteemed list.
The Evangels will be competing at the NCCAA Division I National Championships starting tomorrow after completing the regular season and winning the NCCAA Central Region Championship with a 24-10 overall record. MACU is playing in its third straight national championship meet.
MACU will open the tourney with an 11:15 a.m. matchup against No. 5 seed Judson (Ill.) at the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo.
