GREENVILLE, S.C. – After leading the Mid-America Christian volleyball team to a second place finish at the NCCAA National Championships on Saturday, senior outside hitter Hanna Foecker was named to the NCCAA All-America First Team on Monday.
Foecker is being selected to the First Team for the second straight year and being named an All-American for the third time in her MACU career after leading all four-year collegiate institutions with 776 kills, averaging 5.32 kills per set on a .284 attack percentage.
The Borken, Germany product also finished second on the team in digs with 335, averaging 2.29 digs per set and notched the second-most aces as well with 40, the ninth-most recorded in a single season during the NAIA era (2007-present).
The 6-2 outside hitter saved her best for last at the NCCAA National Championships as she finished the five-match tournament with 109 kills, averaging 6.05 kills per set on a .279 attack percentage. Foecker also recorded double-doubles in all five matches, finishing with 65 digs on a 3.6 per set clip.
Foecker has made her mark all over the MACU record books as she set all of the program's NAIA era single match records for the most kills in a three-set (27, Bethel, 12/3/21), four-set (30, Ozarks, 9/3/21) and five-set (33, Wayland Baptist, 9/10/21) matches. Foecker's 776 kills this season shattered her own record that was previously set during the 2020 campaign when she closed out with 526 to garner NCCAA First Team All-America honors. Foecker earned NCCAA Second Team All-America.
In her three-year MACU career, Foecker nearly doubled the program's NAIA era kills record with 1673 as MACU Player of the Decade Christiane Costa sits back in second with 844. Foecker also ranks third in the books for career service aces (120) and seventh in career digs (844).
Under Foecker's leadership, Mid-America Christian put together its winningest season since joining the NAIA and moving up to the NCCAA Division I level in 2007, as the Evangels closed out with a 28-11 overall record and finished as a finalist at the NCCAA National Championships. It was the highest placement at the national meet since coming away with the 2001 NCCAA Division II National Championship in 2001.
