Evangels Close Out Historic Regular Season With Shutout Win At Panhandle State

GOODWELL, Okla. – The Mid-America women's soccer team had no trouble taking down Oklahoma Panhandle State at Anchor D Stadium on Friday as the Evangels came away with the 4-0 victory to turn in the program's best ever finish in Sooner Athletic Conference play.

SCORING SUMMARY MATCH SUMMARY
  • Dixie Anderson had the first great opportunity to put the Evangels in-front in the third minute when Liz Lozano found her breaking down the right side from the middle, but OPSU goalkeeper Mya Szymanski made a phenomenal diving save from keeping the line drive shot to sneak through the left post.
  • Mid-America Christian was able to finally able to break through in the 22nd minute when Marga Franco setup Liz Lozano nicely just outside the 18-yard box as she fired in a left-footed shot from the right side to just inside the left post to make it a 1-nil lead.
  • The Evangels added more with just over two minutes remaining in the first half when Jayce Fallon's corner kick from the right side found the foot of Abigail McCain, who hooked her shot attempt into the top left corner of the goal to extend the Evangels' lead to 2-0.
  • Just over 14 minutes into the second half, Paola Camacho broke down the left side and centered a pass into the middle of the box for Kyleigh Gibson, who made an acrobatic kick that bounced in through the right post, extending the edge to 3-nil.
  • MACU capped off the scoring when Brooklyn Fink set up Veronica Lopez Cordero in the middle of the field as she launched a 35-yard blast that sailed into the top right corner to bring it to 4-0.
