Foecker, Plunk Garner NCCAA DI Volleyball All-America Honors

GREENVILLE, S.C. – For the first time since the program moved up to the Division I level in 2007, the Mid-America Christian volleyball team placed two players on the NCCAA All-America Team, as senior outside hitter Hanna Foecker lauded First Team honors while Maegan Plunk took home Second Team accolades.

Foecker, 6-2 outside hitter from Sudlohn, Germany, is the first Evangels player to garner First Team status at the DI level and is MACU's first player to earn First Team honors since Renah Charboneau was named to the top team at the Division II level in 2004.

On-top of her First Team accolade, Foecker also joins Christiane Costa (2009, 2010), Sarah Naylor (2000, 2001), Alissa Hauck (1999, 2000), Katye Poole (1998, 1999) and Carrie Hoesch (1997, 1998, 1999) as the only players to earn multiple All-American honors in their playing careers at MACU after being a Second Team honoree during the 2019 campaign.

Foecker broke multiple NAIA era program records over the course of the 2020-21 season, which included career kills (897), career attacks (2563), season kills (526), season kills per set (4.38) and season attacks (1519).

It was a career year for Foecker all over the court as she also turned in a career-high 331 digs (2.76 per set), 51 blocks (0.43 per set) and also turned in 32 service aces for the season.

Foecker was named the NCCAA Central Region Player of the Year on-top of earning All-Sooner Athletic Conference First Team honors over the course of the 2020-21 season.

Collecting her first ever All-American honor, Plunk was the heart of the Evangels defense this season. A 5-3 libero from Rowlett, Texas, Plunk was also no stranger to breaking multiple program records during MACU's successful 2020-21 campaign.

On-top of surpassing Camera Broadnax (1476) for the NAIA career digs record with 1550, Plunk also set the single season mark, topping Shelbi Johnson (625) with a total of 671 on a 5.59 per set clip. Plunk was also very reliable in serve reception, setting the program record for receive percentage at .975.

Plunk was named both an NCCAA All-Central Region honoree as well as selected to the All-SAC First Team as well.

Foecker and Plunk were key pieces to an Evangels team that put together the program's winningest season since joining the NAIA and moving up to the NCCAA Division I level, ending the campaign with a 19-15 overall record.
