Softball Shuts Out Trinity Baptist 7-0 For First Ever NCCAA World Series Win

EASLEY, S.C. – The third time was the charm for the top-seeded Mid-America Christian softball team as the Evangels cruised to a 7-0 victory over Trinity Baptist (Fla.) on Tuesday to win the program's first ever game at the NCCAA World Series.

Senior pitcher Regan Martin picked up the win in the circle, allowing no runs over six innings of work while Olivia Roberts was the spark plug for the MACU bats, going 1-for-2 with a two-run homer in the first inning to go with three RBIs in the contest.

  • Mid-America Christian scored its seven runs on six hits while Trinity Baptist finished with four hits and committed four errors.
  • In its third trip to the NCCAA World Series, the MACU softball team earned its first ever win at the national championship meet. In their two previous appearances in 2016 and 2018, the Evangels went 0-3 in pool play.
  • By getting her 16th win of the season, Regan Martin tied her own record for the second-most single season wins, sitting just one back of teammate Katie Long for the program record. Martin allowed just three base runners over six innings, giving up just three singles while also notching three strikeouts.
  • Olivia Roberts continued to build upon her team lead in runs-batted-in as her game-high three RBIs moved her to 35 driven in on the season. Roberts now sits in a tie for ninth for the most RBIs in a single season, matching Hanna Harris' mark set during the 2018 season.
  • Cailey Parsells stole three more bases to move her season stolen base total to 37 on the year as she continued to build upon her program record. Mikaylee Allen also nabbed a pair of bags, boosting her season total to 29.
  • By smacking a pair of doubles in the contest, Kassie Martin moved into a tie with Harris for the second-most doubles hit in a single season with 19. Martin now sits just two away from matching Ashley Newman's 11-year old program record of 21.

  • Mid-America Christian will face No. 4 seed Oakland City (Ind.) in the final game of pool play at 10 a.m. EST (9 a.m. CST) on Wednesday.
  • Pending the result of the morning game, the Evangels will play in one of the semifinal contests at either 2:30 p.m. (1:30 p.m. CST) or at 4:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m. CST).
