OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian women's soccer team will be returning to the field for the first time since Labor Day as the Evangels will host Sterling (Kan.) tonight at 5 p.m. at the Mike & Helen Dill Soccer Field.

  • Mid-America Christian will be looking to bounce back from a pair of tough losses against two nationally-ranked top 10 teams. The Evangels dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision to No. 10 Oklahoma Wesleyan on Friday, Sept. 4 before falling 5-1 to No. 5 Tennessee Southern on Monday, Sept. 6 at the JBU Classic in Siloam Springs, Ark.
  • It was the first time MACU had dropped back-to-back games since opening the 2019 season with a 3-1 home loss to NCAA Division II Northwestern Oklahoma State on Aug. 27 before falling to Benedictine at Mesa (Ariz.) 2-1 on Aug. 30.
  • The Evangels will be looking forward to being back at home, as MACU owns a 2-0 record at the Mike & Helen Dill Soccer Complex so far in 2021.
  • Kyleigh Rushing has led MACU in the attack, possessing team-highs in goals (3), points (6), shots (14) and shots on-goal (9).

  • Despite giving up 13 goals, the Warriors have gotten solid play out of sophomore goalkeeper Shaylee Gibbs, who ranks second in the NAIA in saves with 52 on an .800 save percentage.
  • SC has struggled against a few of MACU's Sooner Athletic Conference rivals, as the Warriors opened the season with a 6-0 loss at Southwestern Christian and dropped a 2-1 decision to Oklahoma Panhandle State.
  • Ever since dropping their first ever meeting back on Sept. 5, 2008, Mid-America Christian has dominated the series against Sterling, winning the last four matches. MACU has outscored the Warriors 15-1 in those meetings with the last being a 2-0 win in Sterling, Kan. on Sept. 7, 2019.
