Volleyball to Wrap Up Three-Match Home Stand with Oklahoma Wesleyan

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian volleyball team will close out its three-match home stand as the Evangels will host Oklahoma Wesleyan for a noon match inside the Gaulke Activity Center on Saturday.

  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian is looking to get off to its best start through 20 matches since the program joined the NAIA in 2007. MACU's previous best start through 20 games came back during the 2012 season when the Evangels opened the year with a 13-7 record before finishing with the campaign with an 18-16 mark.
    • The Evangels possess a 4-0 record inside the Gaulke Activity Center this season. MACU has only won its first four home matches one other time during the NAIA era and that came during the 2019 campaign when the Evangels won their first six home matches before losing their final four to finish out with a 6-4 home record.
    • Senior outside hitter Hanna Foecker still leads the NAIA with 381 kills, the only player in the entire NAIA with more than 100 kills on the second-highest kills per set average at 5.08, one of just two players to be averaging more than five.
    • Sophomore setter Lena Stockhammer also leads the NAIA in total assists with 743 at a 9.91 assists per set clip.

    • After getting off to a rough start to the season, losing five of its first six matches, Oklahoma Wesleyan has won four straight, the last coming in a three-set sweep over Avila (Mo.) in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) play on Sept. 22.
    • The match at MACU is just the second true road game for the Eagles, going 1-1 in their previous two with a three-set loss at Park (Mo.) and a three-set sweep at Southwestern (Kan.).
    • Oklahoma Wesleyan has struggled in the attack, averaging just 11.30 kills per set (114th) on a .165 attack percentage (113th), compared to the Evangels who rank 58th in the NAIA in kills per set (12.28) while boasting the 44th-highest hitting percentage (.211).
    • Mid-America Christian has taken the last two matchups against Oklahoma Wesleyan, the last being a dominant three-set sweep in Bartlesville, Okla. back on Aug. 27. In that match, MACU held the Eagles to their second-lowest attack percentage of the season (.010) while the Evangels swatted for a .205 percentage, including a .409 clip in the third set.
