OKLAHOMA CITY – In leading the Mid-America Christian volleyball team to a 6-0 week with multiple record-setting performances, senior outside hitter Hanna Foecker earned Sooner Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week accolades while senior libero Maegan Plunk garnered the SAC Defender of the Week honor.
On-top of being named the SAC Attacker of the Week, Foecker also earned national acclaim by being named the NCCAA DI Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week.
A 6-2 senior outside hitter from Borken, Germany, Foecker put together arguably her best week of volleyball in her illustrious three-year career. Foecker concluded the week with 126 kills, averaging 6.3 kills per set on a blistering .412 attack percentage to go with 30 digs, five blocks and a pair of service aces.
Foecker began the week with a dominant performance, registering 17 kills on a .419 attack percentage in a 3-0 sweep over Science & Arts in the team's SAC opener on Monday, Aug. 30. The Evangels picked up a huge win on Wednesday when they were able to knock off John Brown for the first time since 2012 in four sets as Foecker turned in a 20-kill performance in the victory.
In a 3-1 victory against the 2019 NCCAA National Champion College of the Ozarks (Mo.) at the Highlander Invitational on Friday, Foecker tied her own program record and shattered the program's four-set match record with 30 kills on a .383 attack percentage in the victory. Foecker had another strong showing later in the day in a three-set sweep against Lyon, turning in 20 kills on a .410 attack percentage.
Foecker wrapped up the Highlander Tournament on Saturday with some impressive feats, recording the second-most kills in a three-set match with 22 on a .455 attack percentage in a three-set sweep over Jarvis Christian before coming back with 17 kills on a career-high .708 attack percentage against Centenary, the eighth-highest clip recorded in program history.
Plunk, a senior libero from Mineola, Texas also had an impressive week defensively, tallying 116 digs on a 5.8 per set average.
In MACU's 3-1 win against the Golden Eagles, Plunk tied her own program's four-set match record with 30 digs, averaging 7.5 digs per set.
It only took Plunk one match to surpass that record when she turned in 31 against College of the Ozarks on Friday, ending the contest with a 7.75 digs per set average.
On Saturday, Plunk had a strong defensive day, recording 18 digs on a 6.0 per set average against Jarvis Christian before turning in 17 on a 5.67 clip to go with a pair of service aces against Centenary.
