Women’s Soccer Dominates Central Christian for First SAC Win

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian women's soccer team was able to get back on the winning track on Saturday night at the Mike and Helen Dill Soccer Field as the Evangels put up a tremendous offensive performance in a 5-0 victory over Central Christian.

  • Mid-America Christian was aggressive in the attack right out of the gate as Francesca Martella and Jasmine Morales put a pair of shots on-goal in the third and eighth minutes.
  • Morales found the back of the net just five minutes later in the 14th minute. Following Jasie Eischen's shot getting blocked out of bounds, Annika Gerdau's short corner from the right side found the foot of Bruna Faleiro as she put a phenomenal cross into the middle of the box. Morales got a leg up and re-directed the ball on the bounce into the left side of the net, bringing the score to 1-nil.
  • The Evangels continued to put up an offensive barrage following the go-ahead goal as MACU attempted seven more shots, two of which came on-goal for Eischen and Cammy Hargrove while Daniela Paez had a shot ping off the front of the crossbar in the 19th minute. Mid-America Christian also performed three corner kicks during that stretch, but the Tigers were still able to hold MACU to a one-goal edge.
  • Just after the 30-minute mark, Kadin Stinson became MACU's first multi-goal scorer of the season after Morales picked the pocket of the Tigers defender in the middle of the 18-yard box and slipped a pass to a wide open Stinson, slipping the shot past the sliding keeper toward the left post to bring the lead to 2-0 going into half.
  • While Central Christian was able to limit MACU to only two goals in the first half, the Evangels came out in the second half blistering hot by netting three goals in a 10:16 stretch.
  • At the 48:30 mark, Kealy Juarez netted her first collegiate career goal after she was able to claim a mishandled cross by a Tigers defender inside the penalty box, dribble around another defender and fire an 8-yard shot inside the left post before the keeper could react to extend the edge to 3-nil.
  • Just three minutes later, the team captain Kanasa Spybuck got involved in the scoring. In the 52nd minute, when Juarez and Gerdau played a give and go down the left side of the 18-yard box. Juarez immediately crossed it to a wide open Spybuck on the right side, who lifted a six-yarder from right of post over the outreached arms of the keeper to make it a 4-0 game.
  • The Evangels capped off the scoring in the 56th minute when Juarez got taken down inside the 18-yard box by a defender trying to stop the cross, setting up a penalty kick shot for Cammy Hargrove.
