Women’s Basketball to Travel to Central Christian for First Road Contest

OKLAHOMA CITY – The No. 23 MACU women's basketball team is ready for its first official road game of the season as the Evangels will travel to McPherson, Kan. on Saturday to take on Central Christian. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. inside Jerry Alexander Arena.

    • In its Sooner Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday, Mid-America Christian put together an outstanding performance in the second half to run away with an 89-68 win over Langston. After going into the halftime break all tied up at 36, the Evangels outscored the Lady Lions 53-32 over the final 20 minutes of play.
    • Sydney Wycoff put together the best game of her five-year MACU career as the graduate student guard finished with 16 points and recorded her first career double-double with a career-high 13 rebounds to go with a game-best six assists and season-high three steals.
    • Whitney Outon and Shy Christopher led the MACU offensive efforts with 17 points apiece while combining to shoot 12-of-23 from the field as well as both players played a big role in the distribution with three assists apiece.
    • The Evangels have now won eight straight SAC opening games.

    • Central Christian is off to a rocky start to the 2022-23 season as the Tigers have lost each of their first five games by 19 or more points. As a team, CCCK is scoring a SAC-low 47.6 points per game while allowing 75.0 points per contest to the opposition.
    • CCCK got off to an abysmal start in its Sooner Athletic Conference opener on Thursday as the Eagles opened the game by outscoring the Tigers 18-2 in the first quarter before pulling away the 61-42 win inside Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
    • Olivia Bell is the lone Tiger scoring in double-figures for Central Christian as she is averaging 14.0 points per game on a 39 percent shooting clip, but is effective at getting to the line as she is averaging 4.4 free throw attempts per game and is converting on 77.3 percent of her tries.
    • Since the 2003-04 season, the Evangels have dominated the all-time series with an 18-2 overall record and have been especially great in the NAIA Era (2007-present), winning 15 straight during that stretch. In last season's meetings, the Evangels defensively clamped down on CCCK in a 60-26 win in McPherson on Jan. 13 before getting a 71-36 Senior Night victory over the Tigers inside the Gaulke Activity Center on Feb. 17.
