TOP PERFORMERS GAME SUMMARY
  • Mid-America Christian put together a major scoring threat in the top of the first after Amni Ortega led off with a walk and an Isaiah Leon double put runners at second and third with nobody out. However, MACU came up short after Blake Diggle popped into a double play when Ortega was thrown out trying to score on the play. A strikeout of Yan Ely Adames ensued as the Evangels were kept off the board.
  • MACU put together another major scoring threat in the second. After Andrew Enwiya smacked a double to deep center and German Sepulveda drew a walk, Ryan Reed advanced the runners to second and third with one out on a SAC bunt. The Evangels came up empty as back-to-back strikeouts by JCC pitcher Cristobal Canela once again kept MACU scoreless.
  • The Bulldogs gained the first lead of the game in the bottom half of the second. With Thomas on second and two outs, Zeke Holder slapped a base hit up the middle to score Thomas, making it a 1-0 JCC advantage.
  • The Evangels managed to tie it up in the top of the third with another RBI slap from Adames. After Isaiah Leon bashed a one-out triple and Diggle was hit by a pitch, Adames flied a SAC fly to center to plate Leon and made it a 1-1 game.
  • Jarvis Christian utilized some small ball of their own to recapture the edge in the bottom half of the third. With one out, Yan Otero, who reached on a walk, stole second and trotted down to third after a throwing error was made trying to catch him stealing. During the same at-bat, Alexis Bobyn also hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Otero and make it 2-1 in-favor of the Bulldogs.
  • The Evangels struggled to find the game-tying run until putting together a rally in the top of the seventh. MACU managed to load the bases on a pair of walks by Ortega and Leon before Diggle reached on an infield single to load the bases for the Evangels slugger in Adames. Notching his second RBI of the game, Adames ripped a SAC fly to center to score Ortega from third to keep the Evangels hopes alive.
  • In the eighth inning, Jarvis Christian threatened a walk-off at first when Yan Otero reached on an error to left and then trotted down to third on a Sean Rodriguez SAC bunt with just one out. After Bobyn drew a walk, Otero tried to score on a ball that got away from Adames, but the sleek defensive catcher was able to get the tag out before crossing home plate to put it at two outs.
  • Unfortunately for the Evangels, they were unable to keep the Bulldogs off the board in the eight, as after Robert Morales-Candelario was hit by a pitch, Robert Addarich was able to get just enough on an infield single to plate Bobyn from second for the walk-off win.
GAME NOTES
  • Jarvis Christian scored its three runs off six hits and played error-free baseball while the Evangels scored their two runs off five hits and committed three errors.

  • Yan Ely Adames was MACU's lone run producer, going 0-for-2 with two SAC flies.
  • Isaiah Leon and Andrew Enwiya combined to hit four of the Evangels' five hits, as Leon went 2-for-2 with a triple, a run scored and also drew a pair of walks. Enwiya slashed 2-for-4 with a double.
