Softball Bats Stay Hot in 12-2, 8-4 Sweep over Central Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian softball team stayed hot from the plate in a doubleheader sweep over Central Christian as the Evangels defeated the Tigers 12-2 in five innings before capping off an 8-4 win in the finale at Allen Field on Tuesday.

  • Rachel Eggleston won her third straight game in the circle, as she struck out a career-high 10 batters while giving up four earned runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings of work.
  • Junior first baseman Olivia Roberts recorded her fourth straight multi-hit game, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. In the last four games, Roberts has notched 10 hits in her last 14 at-bats and seen her batting average climb from .246 to .304.
  • Junior outfielder Kassie Martin continued to produce from the plate with her fourth straight multi-RBI game after going 2-for-3 with a pair driven in, boosting her season total to a team-leading 28 on the year.
  • By getting the sweep, Mid-America Christian has won 33 of the 34 matchups against Central Christian since the program joined the NAIA in 2008 and extended the win streak to nine in a row.
  • The Evangels battled back from three different deficits in the game as MACU trailed 2-0 after the top of the first, 3-2 after the top of the third and 4-3 after the top of the fifth.
