MATCH SUMMARY
- Mid-America Christian was able to muster a pair of early shots on-goal from Jasie Eischen in the 9th and 13th minutes, but the Evangels came up empty on both possessions.
- Kadin Stinson was the only Evangel to place an on-target shot in the remainder of the half, but Friends keeper Sharon Ngibuini came up with her third save to keep MACU off the board.
- The Evangels defensively stifled the Falcons, holding Friends to just one off-target shot through the first 45 minutes.
- The Falcons captured the lead in the 53rd minute when Gianna Honda's free kick from the right side of the box found the head of a teammate before Bayli Waters ran in from the right side to kick the loose ball from 15 yards dead center to just inside the right post, bringing the score to 1-nil.
- A few minutes later, the Falcons added to their advantage when Cammy Hargrove was called for a foul inside the 18-yard box, setting up the Falcons' top striker Keily Larosee for a penalty kick. Larosee punched the game-winning goal inside the right post to bring the lead out to 2-0 at the 54:14 mark.
- The Evangels cut into the deficit at the tail end of the 59th minute. After Dani Duke intercepted a clearance, she found Jasmine Morales on the break, who relayed to Kadin Stinson streaking down the middle. With the goalkeeper trying to collapse at the point of attack, the MACU striker slipped it past the keeper and inside the right post from 12 yards out, making it a 2-1 game.
- After the Evangels lost Hargrove on her second yellow in the final 10 minutes and needing to play with just 10 players on the field, the Falcons were able to score an insurance goal with 4:27 left. With Yairee Perez breaking on the attack, the Friends attacker forced an errant pass just outside the 18-yard box that was intercepted by Hanon Nakagami. Breaking past a one-on-one defense, Nakagami slipped a 16-yard shot past Rachel Torres trying to stop the break at the point of attack, securing the 3-1 final.
