MATCH SUMMARY
  • While Mid-America Christian got a few good opportunities early, it was Jasie Eischen scoring her first goal of the season in the 23rd minute when she blasted a beautiful 34-yard strike just under the crossbar out of the reach of the keeper to make it a 1-0 MACU advantage.
  • Neither team would get many opportunities over the final 22 minutes of the half as the Evangels went into the break with a 1-nil lead.
  • The Spartans found the equalizer in the 50th minute when MBU went diagonal with its passing from the right post toward the left side for Jordyn Besserman, who fired a 13-yarder toward the left post, out of the reach of the sliding Makayla Farquharson to even it at 1-1.
  • MACU's best chance at going back ahead came in the 59th minute off a Francesca Martella free kick, but Martella's 31-yard missile from the left side was snagged by the leaping Hannah Harrison in goal to keep it deadlocked.
  • The Spartans headed in the game-winner in the 69th minute when Jordyn Besserman's corner kick found the head of Brianna Merchant as it went from the middle to the top right corner before Farquharson could react, making it a 2-1 score.
  • MACU's last chance came with a minute left as Eischen tried to net her second long distance goal of the match, but her 38-yard floater toward the right post was snared by Harrison to wrap-up the 2-1 final.
