OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU women's soccer team will be looking to get back to its winning ways on Tuesday afternoon as the Evangels head uptown to take on Southwestern Christian for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Cagle Family Field in Bethany.

  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian put up a tough fight against one of the SAC preseason favorites in Science & Arts, even taking a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. However, the Drovers came out firing early in the second half, netting goals in the 48th and 50th minutes to take the 2-1 lead before Kyleigh Fort netted the eventual game-winner in the 76th minute. MACU did get a goal back in the 85th minute off the foot of Kadin Stinson, but the Evangels were unable to get another shot off over the final five minutes to suffer the 3-2 defeat.
    • Saturday's defeat marked the first time the Evangels had conceded three goals in a single match all season as the stingy MACU defense had only allowed five goals total over the previous nine games heading into the match. It was also the first time MACU had gotten out-shot in a match this season, as USAO attempted 17 shots to MACU's 13 with an 8-5 edge in shots on-goal.
    • After getting off to a tough start to the season offensively, graduate student forward Kadin Stinson has been starting to make an impact in the MACU offensive attack. The Emporia, Kansas product has netted all three of her goals this season in the last four games and after attempting just nine shots in the first six matches, Stinson has attempted 13 with six shots on-goal over the final four.
    • By tallying an assist on Stinson's score against Science & Arts, freshman forward Madison Chavez has continued to make the biggest impact on the offensive end for the Evangels. Currently, Chavez is tied for fourth in the Sooner Athletic Conference in assists (5) while her five goals and 15 points puts her sixth in the league in each category.

  • Team Notes:
    • Southwestern Christian suffered a tough road loss at No. 13 John Brown on Saturday as the Eagles were out-shot 26-3 with an 11-2 edge in shots on-goal, but SCU was able to contain the Golden Eagles to only three goals, which included a penalty kick goal in the eighth minute.
    • While SCU enters Tuesday afternoon's match as the seventh-best scoring offense in the SAC at 1.89 goals per game, the Eagles have struggled on the defensive end, conceding the second-most goals per contest in the conference at 3.13.
    • Of SCU's 17 goals scored this season, 10 have been netted by the trio of Jessica Garcia, Leah Paddie and Jaina Munoz as Garcia leads the squad with four scores this season. In the defense, the Eagles have been splitting time at the goalkeeper position between senior Celeste Lucio and freshman Marta Papandrea. However, the two keepers combined have tallied 37 saves while saving .597 of the attempts on-goal.
    • Mid-America Christian has seen some incredible success against Southwestern Christian since the two programs started facing each other in 2010 as MACU has won all 14 of its previous meetings. However, last season's meeting was one of the closest to end in a draw as Francesca Martella netted the lone goal of the match with a long shot from the left midfield from 35-yards out that glanced off the hands of the keeper and into the back of the net for the 1-0 final.
