OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU baseball team closed out its home-opening four-game series with Iowa Wesleyan with a pair of nail-biting victories as the Evangels came away with a pair of 8-4, 4-2 victories in a cool afternoon doubleheader at the MACU Baseball Field on Saturday.

GAME NOTES
- Mid-America Christian scored its eight runs on eight seven hits while Iowa Wesleyan tallied four runs on 12 hits and committed five errors.
- Makael Shaw started the day off for MACU by knocking in Andrew Enwiya with a single through the right side. Shaw also added two runs to his line by crossing the plate in the second and sixth innings.
- Jacob Police led the day in RBIs for the Evangels with three by knocking in two runs in the bottom of the second on a single to left and delivered once more with a sacrifice fly to left to bring in Shaw in the sixth inning.
- Issac Baez got his third win of the season in a five-inning performance by striking out a season-high six batters and not allowing a single walk. After a bumpy third inning allowing three runs on five hits, Baez settled in and shut down the Tigers in the fourth and fifth innings.
- Kelton Lachelt entered the game in the sixth inning with no outs and got the Evangels out of the bases-loaded jam with the bases loaded. Lachelt completed the six-out save by finishing off Iowa Wesleyan 1-2-3 in the seventh inning. Lachelt is now the sole leader in the SAC with three saves this season.

- The Evangels scored their four runs on five hits and made one error while the Tigers scored two runs on seven hits.
- MACU took an early 2-0 lead after Noel McGarry-Doyle knocked in Jacob Police in the first and Conner McKinney hit a chopper to third to bring in Yan Ely Adames in the third inning.
- After giving up two runs to the Tigers in the fourth inning and tying the game 2-2, Tylor Richey scored on a wild pitch giving the Evangels a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth.
- With the one-run advantage, the Evangels added one more insurance run as Cole Fuecker stepped to the plate and drove a pinch-hit solo shot over the right field wall to give MACU a 4-2 advantage.
- Freshman pitcher Dylan Lyddon entered the game on the mound to start the sixth inning and allowed no runs on one hit with a walk and a strikeout in the final two innings. Lyddon secured his first collegiate win on the mound after relieving Cameron Brown in a no-decision effort.
- Mid-America Christian moves to 13-2 on the season after sweeping the four-game series over Iowa Wesleyan in the very first meeting between the two schools.

- Mid-America Christian will be back in action at the MACU Baseball Field on Friday, Feb. 24 to begin a four-game series with Southwestern (Kan.). The doubleheader is slated for a noon first pitch.
