PLAINVIEW, Texas – The MACU baseball team smashed its second most home runs in a game this season, however it wasn't enough to keep up with the potent Pioneer bats as Wayland Baptist blasted eight homers in a 15-6 win at Wilder Field on Saturday afternoon to take the series.

GAME NOTES
- Mid-America Christian scored its six runs on nine hits while Wayland Baptist chalked up 15 runs on 20 hits and committed a pair of errors.
- The Evangels quickly fell behind 3-0 until Carlos Medina mashed his third home run of the season to cut the deficit to 3-1.
- Following a Pioneer home run in the bottom half of the third inning, Noel McGarry-Doyle slashed a solo shot to left field. giving him a team-leading seventh home run for the season to cut the Wayland Baptist lead in half at 4-2.
- The home run fest continued for Wayland Baptist knocking two out of the park in the bottom of the fourth taking a 6-2 lead. In the top of fifth Medina put MACU back on the board knocking in Caden Harris on a one out double to right-center, cutting into the Pioneer edge 6-3.
- Wayland Baptist strung together its biggest inning of the afternoon in the bottom of the fifth, bringing across four runs and extended the lead out to 10-3.
- Mid-America Christian saw its biggest inning of the day in the top half of the sixth inning as the Evangels scored three runs with Conner McKinney driving a solo shot out to left field along with an Andrew Enwiya two-run blast to make it a 10-6 ball game.
- The Evangels failed to bring any more runs across as Wayland Baptist pulled away, scoring two runs in the sixth and three runs in the eighth, hitting two more home runs to give the Pioneers eight homers on the day.
- Those eight home runs allowed by the Evangels marked the second-most MACU has given up in a single-game in the NAIA Era with the last time the Evangels giving up eight or more dingers came in a 17-5 loss at Oklahoma Baptist on Apr. 23, 2009.
- MACU especially struggled to slow down the red-hot bat of Samuel Fabian, who slashed 5-for-5 with four home runs for seven RBIs.
- The win for Wayland Baptist gave them the series victory and the Pioneers took the series for the first time since 2021.
- Mid-America Christian lost just its second series of the season with its last series defeat coming at Science & Arts back on Mar. 10-11.
- Carlos Medina put together a big day at the plate, swatting 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run.
- Coming off a four-hit game on Friday, Isaiah Leon was the only other Evangel to finish with multiple hits, going 2-for-5.
- Andrew Enwiya went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored off a home run. His sixth-inning homer marked his seventh of the season and the 20th of his career, becoming just the fifth Evangel in the NAIA Era (2007-present) to record 20 or more career jacks.
- Conner McKinney was another Evangel to homer as McKinney goes 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. McKinney gets home run number six along within a four-game hitting streak.
- Noel McGarry-Doyle finished 1-for-4 with his team-tying seventh home run in the fourth inning for an RBI and a run.
- Ryan Harney took just his second loss of the season, giving up six earned runs on 10 hits with a walk and a strikeout.

- Mid-America Christian will continue its six-game road stand next week as the Evangels will travel to Waxahachie, Texas next weekend to take on No. 24 Southwestern Assemblies of God in a three-game series. MACU will open the slate with a nine-inning game on Friday, Apr. 14 with a 3 p.m. first pitch at the SAGU Baseball Field.
