Women’s Soccer Hosts Central Baptist to Open Three-Game Week

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU women's soccer team will be opening a three-game in six-day stretch on Monday as the Evangels will host Central Baptist (Ark.) for a 5 p.m. kickoff at the Dill Soccer Field.

    • Mid-America Christian is coming off its most dominant performance since the 2020-21 season as the Evangels cruised to a 9-0 victory over McPherson last Monday. In the win, seven different MACU players recorded goals while Madison Chavez and Maria Alonso led the scoring onslaught with each recording a brace to go with an assist.
    • While MACU was just outscoring its opposition 6-2, the Evangels have found a rhythm in its offensive attack as of late as MACU has outscored its foes 14-1 in the last two games.
    • On-top of an improved scoring ability from last season, the Evangels defensively have been stout as well, holding its opponents to just 0.60 goals per game on 6.8 shot attempts, allowing just three on-target attempts per game.
    • If the Evangels can get the win, MACU would be off to its best start to a season since winning 10 in a row to open the 2010 campaign.

    • Leading the Central Baptist offensive efforts is sophomore forward Vitoria Loiola, who was named the American Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week after getting a brace in a 2-1 win over Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.), which included netting the game-winning score in the 86th minute.
    • Despite the tough start to the season, the Mustangs have been getting strong play from their goalkeeper Bailey Walerczyk, who has saved 81.3 percent of the shots the opposition have put on-frame while tallying a 1.80 goals allowed average.
    • Mid-America Christian and Central Baptist will be playing each other for the first time since the 2009 season. The Evangels and Mustangs faced each other three times between the 2007-09 seasons while MACU dominated all three matchups, outscoring CBC 17-1 in the three-game slate.
