OKLAHOMA CITY – The No. 24 MACU Women's Basketball team will be bracing for its biggest road contest of the regular season thus far before the Thanksgiving break as the Evangels head to Langston, Oklahoma on Tuesday night for a 6 p.m. contest against Langston inside the C.F. Gayles Fieldhouse.

SEASON REPORT
  • Record: 9-0 (5-0 SAC)
  • Last Game: Won vs. College of the Ozarks (Mo.) – 67-56 – Nov. 23, 2024 – Gaulke Activity Center
  • Stat Leaders:
  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian is currently off to its best start since joining the Sooner Athletic Conference in 2007 as the Evangels have won their first nine games while recently picking up the program's first ever win over College of the Ozarks on Saturday by a score of 67-56.
    • In that win over COFO, the Evangels once again put together a sensational fourth quarter. After the Bobcats' Taylor Rush hit a three with 8:38 remaining to cut it to a 50-48 game, MACU strung together a massive 15-4 run over the next seven minutes to put the game away.
    • Already entering the contest as one of the best rebounding teams in the NAIA, the Evangels once again utilized their dominance on the glass by out-rebounding the Bobcats by a rebounding 64-26 margin with a 30-3 edge on the offensive glass. As a result, MACU outscored COFO 20-5 in second-chance points.
    • At the conclusion of the three-game slate, senior guard Shy Christopher was tabbed as the SAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the MACU scoring efforts with 18.3 points per game on 42.9 percent shooting from the field and 73.3 percent from the three-point arc while also putting together a strong floor game with 6.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest.

  • Team Notes:
    • Since suffering a 78-71 loss at No. 13 Wayland Baptist to start the season, Langston has bounced back to win its last three games with its last victory coming in a hard-fought 55-51 result inside Abe Lemons Arena against Oklahoma City on Saturday.
    • Langston enters the contest as one of the most prolific offensive and defensive teams in the SAC as the Lady Lions are allowing the fewest points per game (45.6) on the lowest shooting percentage (32.4) and three-point percentage (15.5). On the offensive side, Langston is averaging the second-most points in the conference (80.4) on the third-best field goal percentage (43.1).
    • A big reason for the LU offensive success is its ability to get on the offensive glass, averaging the most offensive boards per game (21.1) while its 12.2 rebounding differential ranks both third in the SAC and 17th in the NAIA.
    • Overall, the Lady Lions feature an incredibly balanced offensive lineup with eight players averaging at least 5.0 ppg and three players averaging in double-digit scoring, led by senior guards Jordan Brown and Diamond Richardson at 12.3 and 12.1 ppg respectively while graduate student guard Mikayla Woods is nearly averaging a double-double at 11.8 ppg and 9.5 rpg.
    • While Mid-America Christian own a 10-4 lead in the all-time series, the meetings between the two programs have been tightly contested with MACU holding a 3-2 edge in their matchups the past two seasons. The last time the two squads met inside C.F. Gayles Fieldhouse last season, the Evangels won a barn-burner as the Lady Lions rallied back from a 14-point deficit to take a 69-68 lead with 16 seconds left before Jaci Calavan knocked down a pair of foul shots with seven seconds left before coming up with a massive defensive stop on the ensuing possession to secure the 70-69 road win.
