Women’s Basketball to Meet Kansas Christian in Midweek Matchup

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU Women's Basketball team will look keep building upon its huge season-opening victory last week as the Evangels will take on Kansas Christian for a 6 p.m. tip-off inside the Gaulke Activity Center on Wednesday night.

SEASON REPORT
  • Record: 1-0
  • Last Game: Won vs. No. 2 Providence (Mont.) – 69-64 – Nov. 2, 2024 – Gaulke Activity Center
  • Stat Leaders:
  • Team Notes:
    • Facing off against last year's NAIA National Runner-up No. 2 Providence (Mont.), Mid-America Christian put together an incredible performance inside the Gaulke Activity Center on Saturday as the Evangels pulled out a strong 69-64 victory over the Argos.
    • In that win, senior guard Shy Christopher, who is already regarded as one of the best players in MACU Women's Basketball history, put together one of the best performances of her three-year Evangels career as she finished just two points shy of her career-high with 33 points on 12-of-21 shooting and went 8-for-10 from the foul line and dished out five assists in the win. The Jacksonville, Arkansas native was especially great in the third quarter, scoring 18 of MACU's 30 points in the period as the Evangels outscored the Argos 30-14 in the pivotal period.
    • Facing a stingy UP defense, senior guard Kylee Scheer also came up huge for MACU, scoring 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including getting the shot-clock beating go-ahead layup with 2:15 to go in the fourth quarter to put the Evangels in-front for good.
    • Senior forward Harley Harbour was strong in her Evangels debut as the NCAA D-II Harding transfer narrowly missed recording a double-double, finishing with seven point on 3-of-5 shooting to go with a team-high nine rebounds.

  • Team Notes:
    • In the midst of facing a daunting NAIA exhibition schedule, Kansas Christian played its first countable game of the season at Central Methodist on Saturday as the Falcons faced a harrowing 121-32 defeat in Fayette, Missouri.
    • In that loss, the Falcons were unable to get any of their players into double-figure scoring as Paris Burney and Hayley Diveley each finished with nine points apiece, combining for more than half of KCC's offensive output.
    • The one positive Kansas Christian was able to take from their contest at Central Methodist was that it was able to hold the Eagles to just 27.6 percent shooting from the three-point arc, but CMU was still able to shoot a super high percentage from the field at 54.4 percent (49-of-90).
    • Wednesday night's matchup between Mid-America Christian and Kansas Christian will mark the first ever meeting between the two programs.
