Women’s Soccer to Tackle Texas Wesleyan in SAC Quarterfinal

OKLAHOMA CITY – Earning the No. 3 seed for the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, the Evangels will open the tourney tonight as MACU will take on No. 6 seed Texas Wesleyan. Due to the recent inclement weather, the game that was scheduled to be played on the Dill Soccer Field will be moved to the Community Christian School Sports Complex in Norman, Oklahoma with kickoff still slated for 7 p.m. kickoff.

      • 13-2-2 W-L, 0.68 GAA, 60 Saves, .845 SV%, 7 SHO
  • Team Notes:
    • With the Sooner Athletic Conference on-the-line and needing a win at Oklahoma Panhandle State last Tuesday, the Evangels battled back from a late 2-1 deficit as Brae Baker scored the equalizing goal with 9:20 remaining before junior captain Jasie Eischen netted her first goal of the season in dramatic fashion, launching a 35-yard shot from the right side that perfectly sailed into the top left corner with 2:54 left to secure the 3-2 victory and give MACU a share of the SAC title.
    • The victory allowed MACU to capture its first SAC Championship as the Evangels shared the league title with No. 21 John Brown and No. 22 Science & Arts with all three teams finishing conference play with an 8-1 mark. The eight wins ties the MACU program record for the most league victories since the 2020-21 season when the Evangels also went 8-1 and finished second in the SAC standings.
    • Unfortunately for MACU, the top-seed was awarded to John Brown on the tiebreaker due to goal differential while the Drovers claimed the second seed in the tournament for having the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Evangels for their 2-1 comeback win over MACU back on Oct. 1.
    • Overall, Mid-America Christian proved it was one of the top three teams in the SAC this season both offensively and defensively as the Evangels posted the third-best point total in the league at 129 while also having the conference's best scoring defense, allowing only 0.76 goals per game for the season.

      • 3-8-3 W-L, 2.81 GAA, 60 Saves, .674 SV%, 2 SHO
  • Team Notes:
    • Texas Wesleyan had a relatively tough finish to its regular season as the Lady Rams went just 1-4-1 in their final six games, suffering a 5-1 loss to No. 22 Science & Arts at Martin Field on Oct. 29.
    • TXWES has been challenged both offensively and defensively this season as the Lady Rams are posting just the sixth-best offense at 1.65 goals per game while ranking seventh in the league in goals allowed average at 2.16.
    • On the offensive side, most of the Texas Wesleyan offense has come from the trio of Alexa Bezpalko, Kristine Garcia and Mikayla Trevino, who have netted 12 of TXWES' 28 goals this season while the Lady Rams have relied on freshman goalkeeper Maggie Campbell to tend to the nets this season, allowing 2.81 goals per game while making 60 saves for a .674 save percentage.
    • Mid-America Christian thoroughly dominated Texas Wesleyan in its Senior Day match back on Oct. 19 as the Evangels scored three first half goals as Brae Baker turned in a five-point game with two goals and an assist. The lone goal MACU allowed came in the final seven minutes with the Evangels playing with most of their reserves in the contest at that point before eventually coming away with the 3-1 win.
