OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU women's basketball team made 17 three-pointers, led by
Jaci Calavan who scored 31 points on eight threes as the Evangels cruised to a 98-39 victory at Central Christin inside Jerry Alexander Arena on Saturday.

GAME SUMMARY
- First Quarter
- Mid-America Christian (18-6, 12-6 SAC) opened the contest by going on an 10-2 run as Kylee Scheer intercepted a pass and went coast-to-coast for the fastbreak layup with 6:14 left.
- The Evangels cooled off over the next five minutes, being held to without a field goal, but went 5-for-6 from the free throw line until Sydney Savage found Karley Miller cutting down the left baseline for an open lay-in, extending the Evangels edge to 17-8 with 1:24 to go.
- Even though Central Christian (4-19, 0-17 SAC) managed to cut its deficit to seven on Kylee Jones' three-point play with 32 seconds left, Alexis Borgstadt pulled down a defensive board and delivered a deep pass to Miller for a buzzer-beating fastbreak layup to make it a 22-13 game at the end of one.
- Second Quarter
- The Evangels defensively dominated the first five minutes of the period, outscoring CCCK 13-0 as Shy Christopher got open by jab-stepping and driving down the left side before hitting a fall-away lay-in to set the score to 35-13 with 5:32 remaining.
- After Alexandria Craig's layup at the 5:04 mark finally snapped the Tigers' scoreless streak, MACU went on another 13-1 streak as Miller pulled down a defensive board and ran down the floor for a fastbreak pull-up jumper with 31 seconds to go to give MACU its largest lead to that point at 48-16.
- Central Christian managed to get three back just before the buzzer when Olivia Bell nailed a buzzer-beating triple from the right corner to make it a 48-19 game at the half.
- Third Quarter
- MACU threw up a three-point barrage, outscoring Central Christian 26-4 over a 6:07 stretch, making triples with Calavan knocking down five of the threes as Miller's three-pointer at the 3:53 mark extended the Evangels' edge to 74-23.
- Following a pair of Craig free throws, Mid-America Christian closed out a dominant period with a 12-2 run as Christopher dramatically ended the period with a buzzer-beating three-pointer from the top of the key to stretch the MACU edge to 86-27.
- Fourth Quarter
- Both teams struggled to score through the first five minutes, but MACU was able to keep building their lead by scoring eight of the first 11 points as a Kayla Highfill three before another Highfill foul shot with 6:03 to go to make it a 94-30 game.
- The Tigers strung together a 9-1 run to knock its deficit to under 60, but Calavan's eighth three-pointer of the game with 55 seconds left wrapped up the 98-39 final.
GAME NOTES
- Mid-America Christian shot an efficient 33-of-72 (45.8 percent) from the field and converted on 17-for-39 (43.6 percent) from three-point range while converting 15-of-22 (68.2 percent) from the foul line.
- The Evangels defensively held Central Christian to just 9-of-55 (16.4 percent) from the field and 4-for-26 (15.4 percent) from three, but efficiently shot 17-of-21 (81 percent) from the charity stripe.
- MACU dominated in the rebounding battle, out-boarding the Tigers 56-35 with 19-10 edge on the offensive glass to post a 22-3 scoring margin in second chance points. The Evangels also forced CCCK into committing 25 turnovers while giving it away 18 times for a 24-6 edge in points off turnovers.
- Jaci Calavan led the MACU scoring efforts with her third 30-plus point game of the season, scoring 31 points on 10-of-18 shooting while going 8-for-14 from three-point range and 3-of-3 from the foul line to go with eight rebounds and three assists. The eight made three-pointers allowed Calavan to tie Ashlee Ferguson and Mykayla Flores for the second-most triples made in a game during the NAIA Era (2007-present).
- Shy Christopher also put together a strong game by scoring 17 points on 6-for-7 shooting while going 3-of-3 from three while pulling down seven boards and dishing out four assists to go with four steals.
- Karlee Miller put together one of her best games of the season off the bench, scoring 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting and pulled down 10 boards for her first double-double of the year.
- Kylee Scheer finished the contest with 10 points while Kayla Highfill finished with nine points off the bench.
- With the victory, the Evangels have now won 20-straight games against the Tigers since the 2006-07 season. With both Science & Arts and Southwestern Assemblies of God losing, MACU has also moved into a tie for fourth with the Drovers in the SAC standings with four games left in the conference slate.
