PITCHING DECISIONS TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian scored its 13 runs on 11 hits while Friends tallied its lone run on four hits and committed one error.
  • After a scoreless first, Carlos Medina got the scoring going for the Evangels in the top of the first when he launched a solo homer over the left field wall to make it a 1-0 lead.
  • MACU added two more in the top of the third as Taiga Sakuma started off the frame with a walk, stole second and then scored on D'Andre Gaines RBI double to left-center before Noel McGarry-Doyle slapped an RBI single through the right side to set the score to 3-0.
  • The Evangels put the game out of reach with a seven-run fourth frame. After Jacob Police started off the onslaught with a lead-off solo homer to center, a Guillermo Velasco walk and Tanner Graves single set up Taiga Sakuma for a two-RBI single to right-center to extend the edge to 6-0.
  • Following a Gaines single and a wild pitch moving both runners into scoring position, McGarry-Doyle notched his second RBI by hitting a sharp grounder up the middle that was knocked down by the pitcher and beat an infield single, setting the score to 7-0.
  • Two batters later, Anthony Hampton ended the seven-run fourth with a three-run jack over the right-center field fence to swell the MACU lead to 10-0.
  • The Falcons scored their only run of the game with a solo shot to right off the bat of Zeke Henson to start off the bottom of the fourth, making it 10-1.
  • The Evangels immediately got the run back with some added insurance in the top of the fifth as MACU loaded the bases with a Graves hit-by-pitch, a Sakuma walk and a Gaines single to right before McGarry-Doyle grounded into an RBI fielder's choice out at second and Kyle Williams hit a sac fly to left bring it to a 12-1 game.
  • Police wrapped up MACU's big scoring game with another leadoff homer over the center field wall in the top of the sixth before eventually closing out the 13-1 victory.
  • For MACU starting pitcher Cameron Brown, it was a record-breaking day as the senior righty made his 36th career start, moving alone atop the MACU record book ahead of Christian Hill (35, 2013-15) while also moving alone into third in career wins with his 14th victory on the mound.
  • Police became the 35th MACU player in the NAIA Era to record two home runs in a game and is the second player this season to tally a pair of homers after McGarry-Doyle knocked out a pair at Oklahoma Panhandle State on Mar. 22.
  • McGarry-Doyle and Hampton led the MACU bats with three RBIs apiece while Sakuma reached base four times on a two-RBI single and three walks and scored three runs.
  • The Evangels swept the season series against Friends after MACU defeated the Falcons 11-1 at the MACU Baseball Field on Feb. 20. The Evangels also had a ton of success against Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference foes during the 2024 season as MACU improved to 7-2 against KCAC opponents.
UP NEXT
  • Mid-America Christian will return to Sooner Athletic Conference play on Friday as the Evangels will open a three-game series against Southwestern Christian to close out the regular season. Friday's doubleheader is slated for a noon start before wrapping up the slate at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
