Women’s Soccer Opens Three-Match Road Swing at Missouri Baptist

OKLAHOMA CITY – MACU Women's Soccer will start a three-match road swing in Missouri and Nebraska over a six-day stretch on Monday as the Evangels head to St. Louis to take on Missouri Baptist for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Spartan Field.

    • While the Evangels were able to hold a commanding 26-14 edge over Kansas Wesleyan at the Dill Soccer Field on Sept. 11, MACU struggled to put shots on-target with just a 9-5 edge in shots on-goal as the two teams battled to a 1-1 draw.
    • Brae Baker netted the equalizing goal in the 27th minute, marking her third goal of the season.
    • Francesca Martella extended her team-leading assist total to five, marking the most assists in a single season in her three-year MACU career with also boosting her career total to 12. The team captain currently sits just outside of the team's NAIA Era top 10 record book, needing just one more dime to move into a tie for 10th with Nicole Farquharson (2008-11).
    • Mid-America Christian continues to be one of the most prolific shooting teams in the NAIA as the Evangels rank third at 28.8 shots per game.

    • Since picking up a 2-0 win over Baker on Aug. 24 to open the season, Missouri Baptist has been challenged the last three weeks as the Spartans have lost five-straight matches, most recently coming off a 2-1 defeat to Culver-Stockton at home on Sept. 11.
    • The Spartans have struggled both offensively and defensively as MBU is averaging just 0.83 goals per game while giving up 4.3 goals per game.
    • Gabbie Wood has led the MBU offensive efforts with two of the team's five goals while Skylar Hollingshead has attempted the most shots on the team with 20 while putting 12 on-target.
    • The goalkeeping duties have been split between freshman Hannah Miller and Gabby Mattli while Miller has seen most of the time in-goal as the most effective keeper. Miller is posting a 3.44 goals allowed average and has made 15 saves on a .536 save percentage.
    • Facing each other for the third consecutive year, the two teams have split their matchups so far as MACU suffered a 2-1 loss at Missouri Baptist in 2022 before getting a 3-2 victory at the Dill Soccer Field on Aug. 24 last season.
