OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU Women's Soccer team will wrap-up its three-match road stand and non-conference game against Bellevue on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Papillion Landing in Papillion, Nebraska.

SEASON REPORT
  • Record: 5-0-2
  • Last Match: Tied at No. 10 Columbia – 1-1 – Sept. 18, 2024 – Columbia, Mo.
  • Top Performers:
  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian pulled out an incredible result in a 1-1 draw at No. 10 Columbia on Tuesday night as Brae Baker scored the game-tying goal with 2:37 remaining in the match to keep the Evangels undefeated through the first seven matches of the season.
    • The result against the Cougars marked just the third time in program history that the Evangels have been undefeated through the first seven matches of the season. Last year, MACU got off to a 7-0 start before suffering a 2-0 loss at home to Bellevue on Sept. 16. MACU's best start ever came during its incredible 2010 campaign where the Evangels won 10-straight before suffering a 2-1 loss at Oklahoma City on Oct. 9.
    • With her goal on Tuesday, Brae Baker moved into a tie for the team-lead with Stephanie Arrivillaga in points (13) while also moving into the top five in the SAC in goal scoring (5). She currently sits fifth behind her teammate in the attack, Arrivillaga, who ranks fourth in the league with six goals.
    • The Evangels got a crucial performance from its All-SAC First Team goalkeeper a year ago in Rachel Torres in the draw with the Cougars as she tied a career-high eight saves and allowed just a single penalty kick goal to allow MACU to hold the result.

      • 5-1-2 W-L, 0.63 GAA, 18 Saves, .783 SV%, 4 SHO
  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian will mark the third consecutive Sooner Athletic Conference opponent that Bellevue will face in the last two weeks. After coming away with a 1-0 victory at Oklahoma City on Sept. 12, the Bruins suffered its first defeat of the season by a 2-0 result at Science & Arts on Saturday.
    • BU has been a strong defensive team to start the season as the Bruins have only allowed five goals through the first eight games of the season. A big part of the credit goes to a stellar back line that is allowing just 2.9 shots on-goal per game and even when the opposition does get a shot on-target, Bellevue goalkeeper Alessia Ricciardi has stopped 78.3 percent of the shots she's faced.
    • Overall, the Bruins feature a very balanced offensive lineup that has seen eight different goal scorers this season as junior forward Sami Reding has paced the attack with four goals this season. Sophomore defender Maju Serrano has led the team's passing efforts with a squad-leading three assists.
    • The Evangels will be seeking to get some revenge on the Bruins after BU came away from the Dill Soccer Field with a 2-0 win on Sept. 16, 2023. Despite suffering the loss, Mid-America Christian held a commanding 18-6 shooting advantage over Bellevue, but the Evangels struggled to slow down 2022 NAIA All-American Honorable Mention Ximena Jauregui, who netted both of the Bruins goals in the contest.
