MATCH SUMMARY
  • First Half
    • The Evangels started the opening 15 minutes firing the first four shots but were unable to find the target. MACU goalkeeper Ariana Solorio was the first goalkeeper called into action making a good save off the headed attempt from Camryn Miller in the 19th minute.
    • Maria Scopino's headed effort found the target in the 25th minute for the first shot on goal for the Evangels but only forced a routine save from Eagles' goalkeeper Lorelai Puglisi. Gladis Avalos had a great effort from outside the 18-yard box just four minutes later, but Puglisi was equal to it once again.
    • MACU dominated the final 15 minutes of the half with seven shots and two corners but was unable to find the back of the net to gain the first half advantage.
  • Second Half
    • Both teams showed great offensive power in the opening 15 minutes as both Solorio and Puglisi were called upon multiple times to keep the game scoreless.
    • The Eagles found the first goal in the 62nd minute through Abbigail Johnson who found the finish at the back post from a beautiful cross in by Sofia Jimenez. However, this didn't slow down the MACU offense as the push for the equalizer continued. Scopino had another shot saved by Puglisi in the 63rd minute, while Brae Baker's effort just a few minutes later barely missed the right post.
    • Southwestern Christian doubled its lead in the 67th minute as Johnson converted the penalty kick and was once again the goal scorer for the Eagles. The Evangels made great efforts to mount a comeback, but Puglisi continued to be a wall in that SCU goal denying the late push.
