Women’s Soccer Set for Showdown against Southwestern Christian in SAC Quarterfinal

OKLAHOMA CITY – The No. 4 seed MACU Women's Soccer team starts its postseason run in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament as the Evangels host crosstown rivals, the No. 5 seed Southwestern Christian, in the quarterfinals for a 7 p.m. kickoff at the Dill Soccer Field on Wednesday night.

    • Mid-America Christian defeated Texas Wesleyan in its final Sooner Athletic Conference match of the regular season resulting in the largest margin of victory for the Evangels this season at 7-0. Brae Baker scored a first-half hat trick, as well as a pair of braces from Caitlin Hirst and Maria Scopino.
    • Brae Baker leads the Evangels in scoring this season with 12, leading the SAC in goals and shots, while coming off her first career Evangel hat trick against Texas Wesleyan. Caitlin Hirst has become a goalscoring machine tallying six goals in six games, while netting consecutive braces for the first time since Baker did it at the beginning of the 2025 season.
    • Liv Houlston continues to be the engine of the Evangel midfield adding a pair of assists against the Rams, to bring her season total to seven, and conference total to five.
    • Ariana Solorio enters the final match with a goalkeeping record of 6-2-3, making 49 saves on a .817 save percentage. Solorio completed her third shutout of the season, while saving all five shots she faced in that previous match against TWU.

    • Southwestern Christian finished the regular season with a 5-4 conference record totaling 15 points, as the Eagles end at fifth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference table. SCU started conference strong but finished with big losses to nationally ranked John Brown and Science & Arts 4-0 and 7-0. However, the Eagles gained momentum in the regular season finale with a 2-0 win over Central Christian at home.
    • On the offensive side, senior forward Abbigail Johnson leads the Eagles attack with 11 goals and four assists totaling 26 total points. Johnson sits top four in goals, points, and shots through the regular season.
    • Lorelai Puglisi enters postseason with an 11-4-1 goalkeeping record tallying 77 saves and recording seven shutouts including one in the regular season against MACU. Puglisi's 77 saves sits her top three in SAC save leaders.
    • In the regular season match between the Evangels and Eagles, SCU came away with a 2-0 win over MACU to mark program history in their first win over the Evangels. Abbigail Johnson scored a pair of second-half goals separated by just six minutes at the Cagle Family Soccer Field. MACU holds a commanding all-time record at 15-1-1, but SCU tied MACU last season, and pulled away with its first win over the Evangels in the regular season.
