Men’s Soccer Sets Sights on Siloam Springs to Take on John Brown in SAC Semifinal

OKLAHOMA CITY – For the first time since 2018, the MACU Men's Soccer team will be playing on the road in Sooner Athletic Conference Semifinal as the No. 3 seed Evangels will head over Siloam Springs, Ark. on Friday night for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff against No. 2 seed John Brown at Alumni Field.

However, with it being the first SAC Tournament road game since 2018, the Evangels will be looking to repeat history as that was year MACU claimed its first ever SAC Tournament title.

SEASON REPORT

  • Last Match: Won vs. (6) Southwestern Christian (Okla.) – 3-0 – Nov. 4, 2025 – Dill Soccer Field (SAC Quarterfinal)
  • Stat Leaders:
  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian thoroughly dominated Southwestern Christian in the SAC Quarterfinal at the Dill Soccer Field on Tuesday night as the Evangels cruised to a 3-0 victory.
    • Josh Macklin was the man of the match for MACU in the win, scoring the game-winning goal in the 10th minute before dishing out assists on both Evangels goals in the second half. It was the first four-point match of the senior captain's two-year MACU career.
    • Haruya Higuchi and Jimmy Cabrera also found the back of the net for MACU in the win, boosting their second and third-best season goal totals on the team to five and three.
    • The Evangels defensively shut down the Eagles, holding SCU to only five total shots with just two landing on-goal while MACU pushed across 16 shots with eight being on-goal against the typically stout SCU defense that had only allowed three goals in a match on just one other occasion all season.
    • The last time MACU played on the road in the SAC Semifinal came on Nov. 6, 2018 as the Evangels are seeking to repeat history. Facing the 2017 NAIA National Champion Wayland Baptist, the Evangels sprung a massive upset by defeating Wayland Baptist 2-1 in Plainview, Texas.

  • Team Notes:
    • John Brown faced a stiff test from the only team that beat it during the SAC regular season in No. 7 seed Texas Wesleyan as the two sides were tied 0-0 at the break and TXWES found an equalizer from Fabrico Martinez in the 55th minute. However, approaching the final 15 minutes of the match Amaury Jarry came up clutch for the Golden Eagles by pushing across two scores in the 75th and 87th minutes to secure the 3-1 victory.
    • The Golden Eagles have consistently been one of the highest-powered offenses in the SAC throughout the year as JBU leads the league in goals per game (2.56) while also posting a league-high 49 assists.
    • The trio of Atim Roper, Alejandro Gallardo, and Amaury Jarry have been the team's most prolific goal scorers for the Golden Eagles all year, combining for 22 of the 46 JBU goals this season while Roper and Gallardo own the team-lead with 22 points apiece with their eight and six assists respectively.
    • Adam Tebbs has been the primary goalkeeper for JBU this season, starting in 13 of the 18 matches this season, posting a 6-3-4 record in-goal with a 1.42 goals allowed average and a .696 save percentage.
    • Mid-America Christian will be seeking to get some revenge on John Brown the last time the two sides faced off on Oct. 25. In that match, the two teams battled to a 0-0 draw going into the half, but MACU was doomed by a pair of early Golden Eagles goals to start the second half and could not find a finishing product to battle back in the 2-0 defeat.
