Cross Country Set for SAC Championships in Siloam Springs on Saturday

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU Cross Country teams will be making their return to Pollard's Field for the first time in a month as the Evangels prepare to compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships in Siloam Springs, Ark. on Saturday morning. The women's 6k race is schedule to begin at 9 am before the men's 8k takes place at 9:45 am.

WOMEN'S SEASON REPORT
  • Last Meet: JBU Golden Eagle Invitational – Oct. 11, 2025 – Siloam Springs, Ark.
  • Team Results: 188 / 6th of 7
  • Top Finisher: Cora Eyler – 50th – 27:26.69
  • Race Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian will be running the same course it ran last month at the JBU Golden Eagle Invitational back on Oct. 11. In that meet, the Evangels finished sixth out of seven full teams running in the event, scoring 188 points to place 23 spots higher than Science & Arts. There were also some individuals from Oklahoma Panhandle State, Texas Wesleyan, and Hesston that also ran at the meet, but didn't have enough finishers to accumulate a team score.
    • For the first time this season, freshman Cora Eyler led all MACU runners with 50th place 6k time of 27:26.69 to score a team-low 32 points for the meet. The mark is the eighth-best time in MACU's record book while Junior Kaylee Campbell also put together a solid finish, crossing the line in 27:49.35 to finish 56th for a 37-point total, notching the ninth-best spot in the 6k records.
    • Freshman Jessie Foster-Anderson has been one of MACU's top runners in 5k events, running sub 23-minute races in each of her previous 5k's with a season-best of 22:11.1 coming at the Rogers State Distance After Dark.
    • Last season, the Evangels finished fifth out of nine teams competing at the SAC Championships, tallying 164 points to sit three points ahead of Texas Wesleyan in the standings.
MEN'S SEASON REPORT
  • Last Meet: JBU Golden Eagle Invitational – Oct. 11, 2025 – Siloam Springs, Ark.
  • Team Results: 78 / 3rd of 9
  • Top Finisher: Jaden Rodriguez – 4th – 25:38.27
  • Race Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian put together a strong showing at last months JBU Golden Eagle Invitational, just narrowly missing finishing in second behind race host John Brown after scoring 78 points, only seven back of JBU. It was a sensational result considering MACU lost one of its top runners in Lucky Maila due to injury during the race. Fortunately, Maila has made a full recovery and will be in top shape for this weekend's championship race.
    • Jaden Rodriguez was MACU's top runner in the event, coming away with a fourth-place time of 25:38.27 to set the fourth-fastest 8k time in MACU's record book and his personal third-best time.
    • In that race, Mohamed Zairi and Aidan Collins also posted some strong results with times of 26:38.69 and 26:51.56 to come away with 15th and 17th places at the meet. However, due to injury, the Evangels will unfortunately be without Zairi in this weekend's meet.
    • Of MACU's top freshmen, Jonathan Avila has been one of the best for the Evangels as he posted a 22nd place time of 27:11.03.
    • The Evangels will be seeking an improved result from last year's SAC Championships as MACU came away with a fourth-place finish as a team with a score of 104, placing 27 points back of third-place John Brown, but an astounding 36 points in-front of College of the Ozarks.
