SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – MACU Women's Soccer came up just short in the effort to knock off No. 11 and top-seeded John Brown on the road in the Sooner Athletic Conference Semifinal, as the Evangels lost 2-1 conceding an 87
th minute winner in Siloam Springs, Ark. on Saturday night.

- First Half
- John Brown opened the scoring in the 12th minute on the first shot of the game. Tianna Jones sent a ball forward which was met by Addie Craig to strike first in the Sooner Athletic Conference Semifinal.
- MACU goalkeeper, Ariana Solorio, made a good save six minutes later to keep it at one, but the Evangels found some form going forward as Brae Baker's first shot forced the save from the Golden Eagles goaltender, Marely Fonseca.
- Solorio scrambled to her right to make another good save for the Evangels in the 39th minute. The quick distribution sparked Evangel offense as Baker found space at the top of the box with enough room to get her shot off, but once again was equaled to by Fonseca to deny the equalizer before the halftime break.
- Second Half
- The Golden Eagles were on the attack first, five minutes into the half Craig looked for a second; denied by Solorio diving down to her right to make the save.
- The Evangels found the equalizer in the 69th minute through Brae Baker for her 16th goal of the season. Cammy Hargrove won the tackle near midfield and played a perfect ball into the path of Baker who buried it to set up an exciting final 20 minutes.
- Solorio came up huge once again for MACU making the save on a point-blank header with five minutes remaining on the Golden Eagles leading goal scorer, Julia Lambert.
- The Golden Eagles scored the winner with three minutes remaining as Caitlin Hilson buried the finish from the back post delivery off the corner. Solorio scrambled to her right and got her hands to the shot, but the power was too great as she was unable to keep it out of her near post.
MATCH NOTES
- JBU held the shot advantage at 22-6 over MACU, with a 10-5 margin of shots on goal.
- Brae Baker scored the lone Evangel goal to record her 16th goal of the season. Cammy Hargrove is credited with the beautiful assist to tally her second of the season.
- Goalkeeper Ariana Solorio held her ground between the posts for the Evangels finishing with seven saves. This total equals her career-high, she recorded seven saves in the 3-1 win over Nelson on Oct. 7 earlier this season.
- MACU falls to 2-18-2 all time against JBU, ending the two-game unbeaten run the Evangels had against the Golden Eagles.
