No. 23 Women's Basketball Travels to Wayland for Highly Anticipated Matchup

OKLAHOMA CITY – No. 23 Women's Basketball heads down to Plainview, Texas tomorrow for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off for a highly anticipated matchup against No. 17 Wayland Baptist.

    • Mid-America Christian enters with a three-game win streak following a 74-63 win over Texas Wesleyan on Senior Day on Feb. 15 inside the Gaulke Activity Center. It was a back-and-forth matchup that a strong defensive first half by the Evangels allowing just 24 points allowed them to walk away with the win.
    • The trio of seniors rose to the occasion on their day, Shy Christopher, Syncere Harrod and Kylee Scheer combined for 51 of the 74 MACU points. Christopher led the game in scoring with 20 points on 8-for-14 from the floor with a career-high four threes made. Harrod had a great game, putting up 18 on 8-for-13 shooting and getting it done on the other end as well with three steals and two blocks.
    • Scheer comes off SAC defensive player of the week, she averaged 8.3 rebounds per game with four steals in the three Evangel wins last week.
    • MACU looks to avoid the regular season sweep, the teams have split the regular season slates for three consecutive seasons.

    • Wayland Baptist comes off a stunning loss to College of the Ozarks for only the third loss of the season for the Flying Queens. The Bobcats stunned Wayland, rallying back from a 69-53 deficit with an eight-minute 20-point run in the fourth quarter. Trailing 73-69 the Flying Queens Kaitlyn Jerden drilled a three to make it a one-point game with 16 seconds remaining, but COFO guard Abbey Linville knocked down a pair of free throws to conclude things at 75-72.
    • WBU is led by the tandem of Nestor Morgan and Kaitlyn Jerden, the duo stands in as the only pair with over 400 points entering the contest. Morgan is having an incredible season, averaging a double-double on 19.3 points a game with 13.7 boards to add on top of it. Jerden offers the ability to score all around the court, she averages 16.4 a game with a team high 36.9 percent behind the arc.
    • It will be an advantage for the Flying Queens obtaining home court for their regular season finale, they stand in yet to lose a game on the home floor with a 13-0 record.
    • MACU looks to tie up the regular season series, they lost a tough one inside the Gaulke Activity Center that came down to the final second in the 83-81 loss on Feb. 15.
