TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME SUMMARY
  • Mid-America Christian managed to push across a run across right away in the first. After Kisbel Vizcaya led off the contest with a double to right center and stole second with two outs, Bethel narrowly missed getting out of the frame. However, Madisson Chavez knocked the go-ahead run on by dropping a shallow single into right center, setting the score to 1-0.
  • After a scoreless second, the Evangels were able to break the game open in the bottom of the third when Hallie Wilson hit a leadoff hustle double down the left field line and after advancing to third on a wild pitch, Vizcaya hit a sac fly to center to make it 2-0.
  • Later in the inning, the Evangels put runners at the corners when Emylee Campbell reached on an error and Madisson Chavez slapped a single to right center before Serena Rodriguez ripped a two-out, two-RBI double to the left center field wall to bring the score to 4-0.
  • The Threshers ran into major trouble in the bottom of the fourth after loading the bases on a Brooklyn Wilson single and a pair of walks drawn by Makenzie Thurman and Hallie Wilson with no outs. Thurman started the scoring by crossing home plate on a wild pitch before Vizcaya chopped an RBI groundout to short to extend the edge to 6-0. Following a Stormy Haynes walk and stolen base, Campbell ripped a two-RBI triple just out of the reach of the right fielder before she crossed home on Kayten Herman's RBI groundout to third to wrap-up the scoring at 9-0.
  • Chana Wolfe narrowly missed recording a no-hitter when BC's Ashlyn Rushing slapped a one-out single up the middle, but Wolfe retired the rest on a groundout to third and a strikeout to secure the one-hit, five-inning shutout.
GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian scored its nine runs on nine hits while the Threshers finished with only one hit and committed one error.
  • With the win in the circle, junior pitcher Chana Wolfe notched her first ever back-to-back shutout victories in her Evangels career. Wolfe threw a two-hit shutout against No. 7 Central Methodist last weekend and followed it up with a one-hitter, allowing only two walks and a hit-by-pitch with six strikeouts.
  • Three different Evangels finished with two RBIs as Serena Rodriguez slashed 1-for-2 with a double and a stolen base, Kisbel Vizcaya slashed 1-for-2 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base and Emylee Campbell batted 1-for-3 with a triple and scored a pair of runs.
  • The triple for Campbell allowed her to move into the top five for career three-baggers as it went down as the sixth of her career.
  • Madisson Chavez recorded a career-high three hits, slashing 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run.
  • Hallie Wilson matched Campbell with a pair of runs scored after finishing 1-for-1 with a double and a walk.
  • By getting the win, MACU improved to 6-0 all-time against Bethel and the second time the Evangels defeated the Threshers in the Red Dirt Classic after coming away with an 8-1 victory on Mar. 5, 2022.
GAME TWO / Mid-America Christian vs. Haskell
SCORE
  • Mid-America Christian 9, Haskell 1 (5 Inn)
    • Mid-America Christian (4-6)
    • Haskell (1-5)
TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME SUMMARY
  • Mid-America Christian threated early in the bottom of the first as Kisbel Vizcaya started off the contest with a leadoff double before a Stormy Haynes bunt single and stolen base put runners at second and third with nobody out. However, HINU starting pitcher Taylor Butterfield got out of the jam by inducing a popout, a strikeout and a lineout to keep the Evangels off the board.
  • Haskell's first threat came in the top of the third as Chloeaunna Madbull-Jim issued walks to the first two batters, but she was able to quickly get out of it by getting back-to-back fielder's choice forceouts at third before ending the frame on a popout to short.
  • The Evangels started to blow the game wide open with a five-run frame in the bottom of the third as Vizcaya and Haynes hit back-to-back singles before a throwing error by the shortstop brought in MACU's star infielder and an RBI grounder to short on a fielding error during Emylee Campbell's at-bat set the score to 2-0. Kayten Herman just three batters later hammered a three-run shot down the left field line, extending the edge to 5-0.
  • Another infield single and two-base error on Isbel Ray's leadoff at-bat set up Serena Rodriguez with an RBI double to left-center in the bottom of the fourth, setting the score to 6-0 before plating one more Josalyn Faulkner's first RBI hit, a single to center to set the score to 7-0.
  • The Fightin' Indians put together a two-out rally in the top of the fifth when Jaivan Bad Bear slapped a single to right and stole second before Mya Merritt dropped an RBI single into left to bring in Bad Bear, the only run the Evangels allowed all weekend.
  • The Evangels put a quick end to the game in the bottom of the fifth as Faith Kelley drove in a run an RBI tapper in-front of home plate before Vizcaya walked off the game by slapping a single up the middle to score Brooklyn Wilson, securing the 9-1 win.
GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian tied its season-high in runs with nine on a season-high 14 hits and committed one error while Haskell scored its lone run on three hits and committed three errors.
  • Sophomore pitcher Chloeaunna Madbull-Jim notched her first career win in the circle for the Evangels, getting the complete game after throwing five innings and allowing only one earned run on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts.
  • The contest marked the first game of the year where two different Evangels recorded three hits as Kisbel Vizcaya slashed 3-for-4 with a double for an RBI and a run while Stormy Haynes slashed 3-for-3 with a pair of runs and a stolen base.
  • The double for Vizcaya was already her seventh of the season as she also became the first Evangel to reach double-digit RBIs.
  • Sophomore catcher Kayten Herman recorded her first career home run on her three-run shot to left, allowing her to finish with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored while also drawing a walk.
  • With the win, MACU improved to 8-1 all-time against Haskell and picked up the first win against the Fightin' Indians since Mar. 19, 2018.
