Track & Field Ready to Compete at First Ever NCCAA Indoor Championships

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU Men's Track & Field team will be competing at the NCCAA Indoor National Championships for the first time in program history as the Evangels will be running at the Doden Field House on the campus of Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio from Feb. 7-8.

Overall, the Evangels will compete in six different events. Starting on Friday, the tandem of Connor Gerth, Collin Seely, Cameron Pearson and Alexander Pebeahsy will run in the Distance Medley Relay before Jaden Rodriguez and Aidan Collins will appear in the 5000-Meter Run.

On Saturday, the 4x800-Meter Relay team of Pearson, Seely, Collins and Rodriguez will be in-action while Gerth and Seely will be in the 800-Meter, Pebeahsy and Pearson in the Mile and Rodriguez in the 3000-Meter.

The Evangels will be seeking to potentially medal in the Distance Medley Relay as MACU enters the championship event with the fourth-fastest time in the NCCAA at 10:57.32 (adjusted), which currently sits only less than 17 seconds back of Greenville for the third-best time.

In the 5000-Meter, Collins and Rodriguez will be two of 13 runners in the race. While Collins set the 39th-best mark entering the race with an adjusted time of 16:30.15 set at the Washburn Open, Rodriguez will be running in his first 5k race of the indoor season.

The Evangels will be one of eight teams competing in the 4x800-Meter Relay as MACU enters the meet with the fourth-fastest NCCAA qualifying time of 8:41.56 (adjusted), which was set at the NAIA/JUCO Challenge on Jan. 25.

The 800-Meter will be one of the most competitive events MACU will compete in as Gerth and Seely make up two of the runners in the 20-man, two-heat race. Seely enters the race with a qualifying time of 2:11.37 while Gerth is right behind with a 2:11.49.

The Mile will also be a highly competitive event with 22 runners competing in two heats. Pebeahsy set a qualifying mark of 4:42.78 while Pearson's mark entering the race comes in as a 4:52.65.

Closing out with the 3000-Meter, Rodriguez set a strong qualifying mark of 8:53.10 (adjusted) for the 12th fastest time set in the NCCAA this season as he will be one of 27 runners in the race.
