PITCHING DECISION TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian kept the bats alive outslugging Central Christian 14-2 in runs while having a plus-ten in hits pounding out 15 while holding the Tigers to just five. MACU had five extra-base hits including three homers that all came in the fifth while keeping CCCK to just one extra-base hit.
  • The Evangels mustered three across in the bottom of the first, Taiga Sakuma led off with a walk and advanced to second on a line drive single to left by Noel McGarry-Doyle. D'Andre Gaines then tripled home the pair on a grounder down the left field line that rolled all the way to the wall. Gaines then scored on an RBI groundout off the bat of Brett Justice, providing the Evangels with an early 3-0 advantage.
  • Gaines and Justice nearly replicated their first at bats in the third, Gaines started off the frame with a hustle double down the right field line and then advanced to third on a wild pitch from Tigers starter Nick Julian and scored on Justice's groundout to third.
  • In the top of the fourth Central Christian responded with a two-run homer by Braedon Ulrich cutting the Evangels lead in half with a 4-2 score.
  • In the top of the fifth the Tigers threatened to add some more putting the first two on, but Andrew Long made a nice play on a sac bunt attempt scooping it up and firing to third for the force out. Carlos Escobosa was inserted in relief and retired the next to including striking out Iker Muniz to escape the jam.
  • Justice left the yard smashing a ball to left-center in the bottom of the fifth with two outs and nobody on extended the MACU lead to 5-2. Payton Matthews extended the inning with a walk and Giordany Mendoza blasted one over the center field fence extending the lead to 7-2. The home run party did not end there, as Conner Thompson followed up with a solo shot to left making it back-to-back jacks with an 8-2 advantage.
  • Escobosa allowed a couple of single s in the sixth but fanned three Tigers hitters in the process to keep the score preserved at 8-2 in favor of the Evangels.
  • MACU kept the foot on the gas plating six in the bottom of the six to jump to a 14-2 lead. The inning consisted of five singles and a pair of walks including a two-RBI base hit on a liner up the middle by Mendoza for his third and fourth RBIs of the contest.
  • Fabian Hernandez stepped on the mound in the top of the seventh and worked a one-two-three inning picking up two strikeouts in the process giving the Evangels a 14-2 victory with the 10 run rule after seven innings being implemented.
  • Giordany Mendoza led the offense, he went 2-for-4 with a homer and four runs batted in picking up a season high in RBIs in a contest shattering his previous of three.
  • Brett Justice was the other main contributor to the RBI column; he had a pair of RBI groundouts along with a RBI walk and solo homer.
  • D'Andre Gaines added two extra-base hits, he had a double and a homer with a free pass allowing him to score three times and drive in two.
  • Noel McGarry-Doyle and Taiga Sakuma both extended their hitting streaks with two hits in the game. McGarry-Doyle pushed his streak to 11 and Sakuma extended his to six. The duo also both scored twice.
  • Conner Thompson built off his strong game last night, he went 2-for-2 with a single, homer, a sac fly and hit-by-pitch in his four plate appearances.
  • Payton Matthews was the fifth MACU player to record two hits, he went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI as well as a walk and stolen bag.
  • Elijah Lee offered a strong presence in the lineup filling in for Carlos Medina. Medina had started in 129 of the previous 130 games for MACU, after being hit-by-a-pitch in the hand last night Medina was granted today off. Nonetheless, Lee made some impressive plays at shortstop while producing a 1-for-3 stat line in the box.
  • Andrew Long picked up the win, due to run-rule being implemented in the seventh he qualified for the win with 4.1 innings pitched. He allowed two earned runs on three hits, three walks and struck out one.
  • Carlos Escobosa entered in a 4-2 game in the fifth and shut down the Tigers, he gave up two hits while striking out four in just 1.2 innings of work.
  • Fabian Hernandez made his second outing in relief; it only took 10 pitches for him to work a scoreless seventh while striking out two Tigers in the midst of it.
