SHAWNEE, Okla. – The MACU Men's Track & Field team opened its inaugural outdoor season this weekend at the OBU Invitational at the Hurt Memorial Athletic Complex on Friday and Saturday as the Evangels had a particularly strong showing by setting four NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship qualifying standards at the meet.
 
EVENTS
5000-Meter (Friday)

• Jaden Rodriguez set a strong mark in MACU's first outdoor 5000-meter event as his time of 15:32.9 was good enough to place 19^th out of 50 runners while setting an NCCAA National Championship qualifying standard.
• Mohamed Zairi also ran an NCCAA qualifying mark with a time of 15:58.4 to place 31^st.
• Aidan Collins rounded out MACU's NCCAA qualifying standard setters in the 5000-meter event with a 33^rd place time of 16:02.90.
• Alexander Pebeahsy, Connor Gerth, Cameron Pearson and Collin Seely also set strong paces in the event with Pebeahsy being just mere seconds from setting a qualifying standards with a time of 16:07.26.

800-Meter (Friday)

• Jaydon Robinson was the lone Evangel competing in Friday's 800-meter event as he set a season-opening mark of 2:33.03.

1500-Meter (Saturday)

• Collins paced the Evangels in Saturday's 1500-meter run, turning in a 16^th place time of 4:23.76 out of the 37 competitors in the event.
• Rodriguez and Pebeahsy did not finish far behind in the race, placing 18^th and 20^th respectively with times of 4:24.20 and 4:25.14.
• Pearson and Gerth also completed, turning in times of 4:34.63 and 4:39.11 to cross in 24^th and 27^th place.

800-Meter (Saturday)

• Zairi put together an outstanding result in the Saturday 800-meter event finishing second out of 25 runners with an NCCAA qualifying standard time of 1:57.39.
• Seely competed in the event as well, turning in a 15^th place time of 2:04.30.

UP NEXT

• The Evangels will be back in-action on Friday, Apr. 4 as MACU will head down the road to Norman, Oklahoma to compete in the OU John Jacobs Invitational at the John Jacobs Track & Field Complex.
