Madisson Chavez provided the opening run on a groundout back to starting pitcher Sophia Tvaroch. Serena Rodriguez added another as she reached on an error, scoring Hallie Wilson and making it 2-0. A double steal by Campbell and Rodriguez put the pair in scoring position and Isabel Ray brought in Campbell on a chopper to third. MACU was not quite done in the frame as Makenzie Thurman sliced one through the left side, scoring Rodriguez and making it 4-0.
  • Geneva strung together a couple of baserunners on back-to-back one out singles, but MACU starter Gia Reynosa settled down the following Golden Tornado bats, getting a strikeout and groundout, keeping the advantage at 4-0.
  • Stormy Haynes legged out an infield single on a ball hit to short leading off the second, however she was thrown out on the next pitch attempting to swipe second. Back at the top of the lineup, Vizcaya singled to third and scored on the third straight hit of the inning and already the second of the game for Hallie Wilson, this time on a three-bagger on a one-hopper to the right field wall. A wild pitch then brought the corner-outfielder home, extending the lead to 6-0. The Evangels tacked on more in the inning by the speedy Campbell reaching again on a walk, she stole second and third, however the throw to third sailed into left field, allowing Campbell to cruise home and make it a 7-0 ballgame.
  • Despite Geneva once again putting a pair on base, Reynosa induced a Julia Hart pop up to retire the inning with the Evangels still ahead 7-0 through two and a half complete.
  • With first and third and one down, the Golden Tornadoes had a good opportunity to get on the board, but Reynosa bared down, getting Callie Mangan to strike out swinging and Isabela Skrlac on a comebacker to once again keep MACU up 7-0 through three and a half complete.
  • Vizcaya and Hallie Wilson reached via walks and scored on a two-bagger that split the left-center gap off the bat of Chavez, boasting the lead to 9-0 in the fourth. Chavez then came around on a RBI single to right by Thurman, allowing the Evangels to take a double-digit lead up 10-0.
  • Reynosa got an out to began the fifth and departed, handing the ball off to Brooklyn Wyatt who worked around a single and hit by pitch, closing things out with a 10-0 run-rule victory.
GAME NOTES

  • The top of the lineup for MACU played a massive role in the scoring department, as Kisbel Vizcaya and Hallie Wilson both logged three-runs. It was just the second time Vizcaya accomplished the feat in her second year at MACU, tying her career-high of three runs that occurred in the 23-1 win over Southwestern back on Mar. 6, 2024. It marked the third time Wilson has scored three times this season and fourth in her MACU career.

  • Hallie Wilson reached base on all three plate appearances, she slashed a perfect 2-for-2 with a triple, a walk, an RBI and a stolen bag.

  • In the back half of the third Sterling threatened on back-to-back two out hits including a double down the line by Desiree Perales, however the Evangels caught a break when the double by Perales was ruled a ground-rule double after getting lodged in the fence. With two in scoring position, MACU starter Chana Wolfe locked in and stuck out cleanup hitter Aiyana Campos swinging, keeping the Evangels ahead 2-0.
  • MACU kept Sterling off the board in the fourth behind some heads up defense, a leadoff single started it off for the Warriors, but Wolfe fielded a popped up bunt for the first out and Sterling attempted another bunt, this time resulting in a 3-5-4 double play when Kelly Hirlas extended too far off the second base bag and Emylee Campbell fired it to Vizcaya for the last out.
