TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME SUMMARY
  • Mid-America Christian put together a major threat right out of the gate as Hallie Wilson legged out an infield single to short and used her legs to steal both second and third, but the Evangels were unable to bring her home as back-to-back strikeouts left her stranded.
  • Sterling had an early scoring chance of its own in the bottom of the first as Bryley Westphal drew a leadoff walk before eventually getting moved down to second on a groundout to Chana Wolfe in the circle, but a pop out to second left the runner stranded as well.
  • The Warriors had another great chance in the second Kelly Hirlas drew a leadoff walk, got moved down to second on a sac bunt and then to third on a passed ball, but Wolfe managed to strike out Madilynn Green to keep the runner at third.
  • Neither team managed to get a runner in scoring position until the top of the sixth when Hallie Wilson slapped a one-out single up the middle and was moved down to second on Serena Rodriguez's sac bunt, but the Evangels came up empty once again to keep it a scoreless game.
  • After Wolfe retired 10 straight batters, Mariah Cunningham popped a two-out infield single that fell perfectly in-between Wolfe and Madisson Chavez at catcher, but Wolfe bounced back by getting one of the Warriors' best hitters in Desiree Perales to ground out to first unassisted to end the frame.
  • In the top of the seventh, the Evangels finally capitalized by taking advantage of a pair of defensive mistakes. Isabel Ray led off the frame by hitting a ground ball to the shortstop that was mishandled. After her pinch-runner Gia Reynosa got down to second on a wild pitch, she managed to slide in safely to third on Makenzie Thurman's fielder's choice grounder to third that put runners at the corners.
  • It then came to the bat of Heidi Noisey, as the first baseman chopped a grounder back up the middle that slipped through for a go-ahead RBI single, making it a 1-0 game.
  • The Evangels had a chance to potentially add more as a wild pitch moved both runners down to second and third with only one out, but the Warriors managed to limit the damage with back-to-back groundouts to keep it a 1-0 game.
  • Mid-America Christian put the game away cleanly in the bottom of the seventh as Isabel Ray made two very good grabs in right field before Brooklyn Wilson snared the final out in center to seal the 1-0 victory.
GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian scored its one run on five hits while Sterling tallied three hits and committed one error.
  • Chana Wolfe put together one of her best performances of the season in the circle, tossing a complete game shutout as she gave up only three singles and two walks while striking out six over seven innings of work. The contest marked her fourth shutout of the season, the last coming in a 1-0 victory at Nelson back on Mar. 6.
  • The RBI knock for Heidi Noisey was her seventh of the season while the run for Gia Reynosa was her sixth of the year.
  • Hallie Wilson was the only player in the contest to finish with multiple hits, slashing 2-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases.
  • It was MACU's first win over Sterling since Mar. 11, 2021 when the Evangels pulled out a pair of 5-4 victories at Allen Field.
  • With the victory, the Evangels advanced to the NCCAA National Championship for the first time since 2021 when MACU pulled out a thrilling 3-2 walk-off win over Concordia-Ann Arbor on May 20.

TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY

  • BTM 5th – JU – Kylie Nunes homered to left, RBI – JU 3, MACU 0
  • TOP 7th – MACUHeidi Noisey homered to center, 2 RBI; Serena Rodriguez scored – JU 3, MACU 2
GAME SUMMARY
  • Mid-America Christian forced the first great scoring chance of the game in the top of the second as Makenzie Thurman was hit by a pitch while Kayten Herman and Stormy Haynes hit back-to-back two-out singles to left to load the bases. However, the Warriors left them stranded by getting Gia Reynosa to pop out to end the inning.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, the Warriors broke into the scoring column first. After Maddy Ybarra led off the frame with a single up the middle, stole second and got down to third on a groundout to short before the very dangerous batter Sarah Giles mashed a two-run homer over the center field fence to give Jessup the 2-0 advantage.
  • Jessup added one more run to its lead in the bottom of the fifth as Kylie Nunes hit a leadoff solo home run over the left field wall to bring it to a 3-0 game.
  • The Evangels struggled to generate much on the bases until it was down to its final chances in the top of the seventh. After Isabel Ray led off the frame with a hit-by-pitch and Serena Rodriguez traded places with her on a fielder's choice grounder to short, Heidi Noisey made some massive noise with the bat by launching a two-run shot over the center field fence to cut the deficit to 3-2 with one out.
  • Unfortunately, MACU was unable to put the tying run on-base as a foul out to the first baseman and a groundout to the pitcher abruptly ended the Evangels season.
GAME NOTES
  • Jessup scored its three runs on six hits while the Evangels scored their two runs on four hits and committed one error.
  • For sophomore first baseman Heidi Noisey, the two-run homer to straight center went down as her first collegiate homer between her first season with the Evangels and her lone season at Labette Community College during her freshman campaign. The big knock was also her first career extra-base hit at MACU.
  • Hallie Wilson, Kayten Herman and Stormy Haynes each also recorded MACU's other hits with each tallying a single.
  • The run scored for Serena Rodriguez marked her 23rd of the season.
  • Facing a red-hot Jessup team that powered its way to a 10-6 win over Fort Lauderdale in the other semifinal, the Evangels did manage to hold the big power-hitting team to its lowest scoring output of the tournament at three runs, but all three scores did come by way of the long ball on a pair of homers.
  • Gia Reynosa got the start and suffered the tough loss after pitching very well through the first three innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits with no walks and a strikeout.
  • Coming off a complete game shutout against Sterling earlier in the day, Wolfe allowed one earned run on three hits with no walks and struck out a pair of batters in relief. Brooke Wyatt also threw an inning of relief, giving up only a hit with no walks and notched a strikeout.
  • The matchup with Jessup was MACU's first ever meeting against the NCAA D-II program from California.
  • With the result, Mid-America Christian wrapped up the NCCAA World Series as the National Finalist, marking the fourth time in the last five years the Evangels have advanced to at least to the semifinal run at the national tournament.
  • Under second year head coach Jim Gasso, the Evangels wrap-up the 2025 campaign with a 32-22 overall record. It is the fifth-straight year and the ninth time in the last 12 seasons MACU has won at least 30 games. The Evangels also finished third in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings, finishing the conference slate with a 22-10 league mark.
  • At the conclusion of the tournament, senior second baseman Kisbel Vizcaya and freshman catcher Madisson Chavez were selected to the NCCAA World Series All-Tournament Team.
  • The contest marked the final game of seven sensational seniors that left an incredible mark on the program. Those seniors include: Isabel Ray, Kisbel Vizcaya, Emylee Campbell, Makenzie Thurman, Stormy Haynes, Hallie Wilson, and Brooklyn Wilson.
