GAME SUMMARY
  • Southwestern Christian got the game in motion right out of the gate at Hannah Keele led off the top of the first with a single that was able to just barely slip by the third baseman and advanced all the way to third on a Trinity Norwood sac bunt. Keele took advantage of an errant throw on a pop up to Kisbel Vizcaya at second as she came across to score to make it an early 1-0 SCU lead.
  • The Evangels generated both of their runs of the contest in their bottom half of the first as back-to-back one-out hits on a Hallie Wilson double down the left field line and an Emylee Campbell single to center and advance on the throw tied the game at 1-1.
  • The Evangels put runners at the corners on Madisson Chavez's single to right before Chavez intentionally got caught at second on a steal to allow Campbell to score, giving MACU its first and only lead at 2-1.
  • Once again, the Eagles took advantage of a MACU miscue at second as an errant throw to first on Trinity Norwood's grounder to second to start off the frame set up Holly Elam's bloop single to second put runners at the corners with two away. The Eagles came up with back-to-back singles off the bat of Madison Jones and Shakyrah Gladness, giving SCU the 4-2 advantage.
  • MACU put together a threat of its own in the bottom of the fourth as Stormy Haynes and Brooklyn Wilson hit back-to-back one-out singles to bring up the top of MACU's order, but the Evangels were unable to push the runners across as a pop out to second and groundout on a comebacker to the pitcher kept it a two-run Eagles lead.
  • The Evangels were unable to put a runner in scoring position the rest of the way as MACU suffered the 4-2 defeat to end its SAC Tournament run.
GAME NOTES
  • Despite the result, Mid-America Christian out-hit Southwestern Christian as the Eagles scored their four runs on six hits while the Evangels tallied their two runs on 12 hits and committed two errors.
  • While MACU did notch its fourth-straight game of double-digit hits, the Evangels struggled to find the power bats as 11 of the 12 hits were singles with the lone double being a hustle bloop double down the left field line by Hallie Wilson.
  • Madisson Chavez led the MACU batting efforts by slashing 3-for-4 with three singles.
  • Hallie Wilson and Isabel Ray also had multi-hit performances as Wilson batted 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored while Ray went 2-for-4 as well.
  • The lone RBI of the contest for MACU came off the bat of Emylee Campbell as she finished 1-for-4 with a run.
  • It was a tough luck loss for Gia Reynosa in the circle as she allowed four unearned runs on five hits with no walks and a strikeout over 3.2 innings of work.
  • For the second-straight game against SCU in relief, Brooke Wyatt was outstanding out the pen, allowing no runs one hit and one walk over 3.1 innings.
  • With the defeat, MACU and SCU have evenly split their matchup this year 3-3.
UP NEXT
