Men’s Track & Field Makes Way to Inaugural NCCAA Outdoor Championships

OKLAHOMA CITY – In wrapping up its inaugural season, the MACU Men's Track and Field team is in Columbia, South Carolina this week to compete in its first ever NCCAA Outdoor National Championships, hosted by Columbia International University at the CIU Track Complex.

EVENT SCHEDULE MEET NOTES
  • The Evangels are coming off their first ever Sooner Athletic Conference Championship meet at Texas Wesleyan from Apr. 25-28 and despite competing in only four events, MACU still managed to finish 10th out of 12 teams after scoring 28 points.
  • Mohamed Zairi highlighted the Evangels runners in the team's inaugural conference championships, medaling in the 1500-meter event with the first sub four-minute time in program history with a 3:59.23 to place third.
  • On Thursday, Mid-America Christian will be competing in its first 4x800-meter relay of the outdoor season. The Evangels did compete in the 4x800-meter during the NCCAA Indoor Championships as MACU's four-man squad of Connor Gerth, Collin Seely, Aidan Collins and Rodriguez ran an 8:20.08 to place seventh in the event.
  • Rodriguez and Collins will open the Friday events with the 5000-meter run. The 5000-meter has been one of Rodriguez's best events during the 2025 outdoor season as he has posted two of the teams' five fastest 5k runs, including the program-record 15:32.98 at the OBU Invitational back on Mar. 28. Collins best 5k run of the year came in the OBU Invitational after turning in a time of 16:02.98.
  • In the 1500-meter on Friday afternoon, Pebeahsy and Gerth will look to pace the Evangels. Pebeahsy enters the race with the program's fifth-fastest time in the record book at 4:07.84 set at the SAC Championships while Gerth's best mark in the 1.5k event came in the KT Woodman Classic hosted by Wichita State when he posted a 4:12.99.
  • The Evangels will close out the NCCAA Championships with the 800-meter on Friday. In that event, Zairi and Seely will look to pace the Evangels as Zairi enters the meet with MACU's four-fastest 800-meter times, all of which being sub two-minute marks with his personal best being a 1:56.14 set at the Pittsburg State Tune-Up on Apr. 17. Seely is the only other Evangel to own a top five mark in MACU's record book as his personal best time of 2:00.71 was set at the SAC Championships on Apr. 26.
