Women’s Soccer Return Home and Set to Face LSU Alexandria

OKLAHOMA CITY – MACU Women's Soccer return home after picking up a pair of victories on the road, as the Evangels set to face LSU Alexandria Thursday afternoon on Sept. 11 for a 3 pm kickoff at the Dill Soccer Field.

    • MACU's win on the road at LSU Shreveport saw the second game winning goal of the season for Gladis Avalos who converted from the penalty spot. The Evangels are returning home after picking up two road wins since their first loss of the season last time out at the Dill Soccer Field.
    • Mid-America Christian has continued to show offensive firepower by outshooting every team its faced this season including in its only loss on the season to Hastings (Neb.). The Evangels have fired 48 shots, putting 28 on goal for a .583 shots on goal percentage this season.
    • The Evangels have had a strong defensive performance so far enforced by senior goalkeeper Alba Vigo who has a winning record in goal at 4-1 making 19 saves in five games. Vigo is coming off a season high in saves totaling six against LSU Shreveport last Saturday, Sept. 6.
    • MACU is looking for its first win at the Dill Soccer Field this season, returning from an 18-1-1 home record over the past two seasons.

    • The Generals started their season 0-3 with tough losses coming against nationally ranked teams. LSUA got its first win of the season on the road against a Sooner Athletic Conference school in Texas Wesleyan in a 3-0 game on Aug. 30th. Its fourth loss of the season came just two days later against another SAC school in Nelson by a score of 3-2.
    • The Generals found goals in their road trip to Texas, scoring five in two games with the majority of goals scored coming from lower classmen as a freshman and sophomore lead the squad in scoring. LSUA saw a 3-0 deficit at halftime against Nelson but fought to get back into the game with goals from Sara Escribano in the 71st minute and Linnea Lundstroem in the 90th minute, coming close to salvaging a draw from the match.
    • The Generals are still seeking their starting goalkeeper, starting three different players at the position in their opening five matches. Hannah May has attributed the highest save percentage so far at .500 making three saves in her one game of action on Aug. 27 in a 3-0 loss at home against Tennessee Southern.
    • LSUA are amid of four games on the road as this matchup with the Evangels marks its third consecutive game away from home.
    • The only previous matchup between the Evangels and the Generals came back on Sept. 6th, 2014, in an equally matched 4-3 MACU win at a neutral site venue in Victoria, Texas.
