Women’s Soccer Set for Heavyweight Clash vs Columbia

OKLAHOMA CITY – MACU Women's Soccer stay at home to face No. 23 Columbia (Mo.) Monday afternoon on Sept. 15, as it pursues consecutive wins at the Dill Soccer Field in its first matchup against a ranked opponent this season.

    • MACU's win at home against LSU Alexandria saw dominant offensive performances from its main two forwards in Gladis Avalos who had two goals and an assist, while Brae Baker added a goal and assist of her own.
    • Mid-America Christian has continued to show offensive firepower by outshooting every team it faced this season including in its only loss on the season to Hastings (Neb.). The Evangels have fired 114 shots, putting 69 on goal for a .605 shots on goal percentage this season.
    • MACU is coming off its season high in shots, shots on goal, and corner kicks against LSU Alexandria with 25 shots, 15 shots on goal, and 13 corner kicks.
    • The Evangels have had a strong defensive performance so far enforced by senior goalkeeper Alba Vigo who has a winning record in goal at 4-1 making 19 saves in five games. However, with Vigo out with injury against LSUA, Ariana Solorio stepped up for her first career start at goalkeeper and carded five saves in her first win of the season.

    • Columbia have struggled to find offense to start the season consistently being out shot by its opponents and only scoring two goals on the year. The Columbia goals were scored by its forwards Georgia Pardalos and Macie Vincent.
    • The Cougars have started Natalie Allison in goal in all five games this season making 30 saves, allowing 10 goals, with a .750 save percentage.
    • This is the third matchup between the Evangels and the Cougars as the previous game was a closely contested 1-1 tie on Sept. 18, 2024, in Columbia, Mo.
