Men’s Basketball Heads Uptown to Oklahoma City to Wrap-Up Road Swing

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU Men's Basketball team will wrap-up its three-game road swing in the midst of its Sooner Athletic Conference slate tonight as the Evangels are seeking to avenge a loss to Oklahoma City at 8 p.m. inside Abe Lemons Arena.

SEASON REPORT
  • Record: 13-5 (7-5 SAC)
  • Last Game: Won at Science & Arts – 84-77 – Jan. 19, 2026 – Chickasha, Okla.
  • Stat Leaders:
  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian snapped its two-game skid to begin the second half of SAC play on Monday evening when it went to Chickasha and came away with an 84-77 road win at Science & Arts inside the USAO Fieldhouse.
    • While the Evangels trailed the Drovers midway through the second half, MACU took advantage of a Morris Williams trey with 10:46 left to jumpstart a 21-3 run over the next six-and-a-half minutes as his foul shots with 4:24 to go gave MACU an overwhelming 73-57 advantage.
    • In the contest, MACU attempted a season-high 42 free throw attempts and marked a rare occasion as it was only the second time this season the Evangels shot under 70 percent (29-of-42, 69 percent) from the charity stripe and came away with the win.
    • The win gave the Evangels the opportunity to get back in-sync on the offensive end as the squad wasn't able to break the 70-point mark in its two previous losses to No. 16 Nelson and Texas Wesleyan. The Evangels have also been getting more balanced on the offensive end with nearly having six players averaging 8.0 or more ppg per contest.

  • Team Notes:
    • Oklahoma City has been one of the biggest surprise teams in the SAC this season as the Stars currently sit in a tie for second with Langston in the league standings, just a game back of Nelson (10-2) at 9-3 for the lead. However, the Stars are coming off a tough road loss in their last game after suffering a 72-65 defeat at Wayland Baptist on Saturday.
    • OCU has been a solid team on the offensive end, ranking third in the SAC in scoring at 85.2 points per game and even though the team only ranks seventh in field goal percentage (44.9) and sixth in three-point percentage (33.6), they've been solid at the line by posting the fourth-best rate at 74.1.
    • Defensively, the Stars rank in the middle of the pack, allowing the seventh-fewest points per game (75.7) while giving up the second-highest field goal percentage (45.2). However, OCU owns one of the best perimeter defenses in the league by holding its opposition to the third-lowest three-point shooting at 30.2 percent.
    • The Stars possess perhaps one of the best guard duos in the conference in senior Jonas Carlisle and junior Brian Alexander. Aside from Jamouri Lawrence (Wayland Baptist), both Carlisle and Alexander are the only players in the SAC that are both averaging above 15.0 ppg and 3.0 assists per contest.
    • Mid-America Christian is seeking a bounce-back against the Stars after OCU came into the Gaulke Activity Center on Nov. 22 and played their best game of the season. In that 94-66 win by the Stars, OCU buried a season-high 14 three-pointers while posting its second-highest three-point clip (48.3 percent). MACU had no answer for the Alexander-Carlisle duo, who combined for 52 points on 19-of-36 shooting, going 10-for-19 from the three-point arc. Shannon Strickland led the way for MACU in that game with 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting and went 3-for-5 from three, but the Evangels struggled to get anyone else on the offensive end into a rhythm.
