Women’s Basketball to Begin Four-Game Home Stand against John Brown, College of the Ozarks

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU Women's Basketball team returns after a full week off, starting off a four-game home stand with a pair of home games starting first with John Brown on Thursday night, tipping off at 6 p.m. inside the Gaulke Activity Center. The Evangels face College of the Ozarks on Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. tip-off.

    • Junior forward Caitlynn Jordan leads the Evangels in scoring and rebounding averaging 14.4 ppg and ranks top five in the SAC with 7.6 rebounds. Jordan recorded 14 points, seven boards, and three blocks in the Evangels' win over Oklahoma City last Thursday night.
    • Mia Smith scored a career-high 20 points and added six assists last time out. Smith's 65 assists on the season is top four in the conference.
    • MACU continues to rank top three in offensive statistics averaging over 70 points per game on 41.2% from the field and 33.6% from behind the arc. The Evangels have also increased their 3-pt shooting averaging 8.5 made per game.
    • MACU continues to dominate at the defensive end, forcing an average of 20 turnovers a game off 10.5 steals and 3.5 blocks. The Evangels allow the fewest points against with 57.1.

    • John Brown hits the road after beating Texas Wesleyan at home last Thursday night to improve to 5-8 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. The Golden Eagles sit in eighth place holding on to the final playoff spot by one game.
    • JBU are led by sophomore guard Sarah Snodgrass who leads the SAC with 21.5 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game, the only player to average a double-double. Snodgrass recorded 27 points and 17 rebounds in the Golden Eagles' win over Texas Wesleyan last time out.
    • Despite the individual offensive firepower, JBU ranked ninth with 62 ppg. The Golden Eagles rank middle in shooting percentages at 38.9% from the field and 29.5% from three. However, JBU does knock down over seven triples a game on average.
    • Defense has been the main issue for JBU allowing 67 ppg, while not forcing many turnovers and holding a -7 turnover margin average throughout conference play.
    • John Brown holds a narrow 21-20 all-time record against MACU. However, the Evangels have won three consecutive, including the previous meeting this season played on Dec. 11 in Siloam Springs by a 63-53 margin. Taliah Lee led the Evangels with 15 points and six rebounds, while Sarah Snodgrass tallied 19 points and 17 rebounds for the Golden Eagles.

    • The Bobcats are led by junior guard Logan Jones who averages 15.8 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game. Jones is top five in SAC in scoring and ranks top three in assists. She tallied 12 points and six assists in the loss to Nelson last Thursday night.  
    • COFO ranks in the top three in FG% at 41%, while averaging the most free throws made and attempted with 14.4 and 19.6 a game. The Bobcats also look to dominate the glass with over 13 offensive rebounds a game, averaging a conference best +8 rebound margin in conference play.
    • College of the Ozarks holds a 6-1 all-time record against MACU, as the Bobcats got the better of the Evangels in an 83-75 game in Point Lookout, Mo. on Dec. 13, the previous meeting between the schools this season. Caitlynn Jordan scored a team-high 19 points for the Evangels.
