MATCH SUMMARY
  • First Half

    • The Evangels made it 2-0 in the 21st as Izzy Dooley tapped home the second as the initial free kick was saved, Dooley followed up the rebound to tap home her first goal in Evangel colors.
    • SCU grew back into the contest with positive spells of possession. The possession eventually paid off as MACU committed a foul in its defensive box to award a penalty kick to the Eagles. Abbigail Johnson converted from 12 yards out in the 27th minute to cut the deficit in half at 2-1.
    • Mid-America Christian restored its two-goal advantage in the 35th minute as Morgan Higgins got on the end of another rebounded save from the goalkeeper. Abby Sonne fired it on frame to force the save, while Higgins tapped home the loose ball to put the Evangels up 3-1.
  • Second Half
    • The first good chance of the second half came in the 55th minute as Liv Houlston played a perfectly weighted ball into the path of Rosina Mastro who fired one hard and low at the near post to force the diving save out of the Eagles' goalkeeper.
    • MACU made it 4-1 in the 71st minute as Stephanie Arrivillaga made no mistake from the penalty spot after Mastro drew the contact inside the box after the quick moves forced the defender to bring her down.
    • The Evangels closed it off in style as Brae Baker scored a thing of beauty in the 86th to cap off the 5-1 result. Baker cut across the middle of the field and from 35 yards out, fired a shot back across her body off-balance and into the top corner for her 10th goal of the season.
MATCH NOTES
  • MACU dominated the offensive statistics by a 25-11 shot margin, and 12 shots on goal to SCU's four. The Evangels also had four corner kicks, while the Eagles only managed one.
  • Brae Baker scored her 10th goal of the season as she climbed the conference tables up to second place with her double-digit tally. Both Izzy Hayward and Izzy Dooley scored their first goal for the Evangels. Morgan Higgins scored her third goal of the season, while Stephanie Arrivillaga converted from the penalty spot for goal number two.

  • Niamh Taylor was unable to keep her clean sheet after the SCU penalty kick spoiled that, but she did make three saves in her 90-minute performance.
