  • The Evangels did get a run back in the bottom of the second, utilizing some small ball as Dakota Watson drew a walk and then made a heads up play to get from first to third on Saina Willis' sac bunt. She then came across on a passed ball that made it a 6-1 contest.

  • Mid-America Christian threatened to put together a massive response in the bottom of the third as four-straight batters reached on free passes as Jorji King getting hit by a pitch closed it to 8-2 with only one out. Unfortunately, Nyssa Dunn hit into a bit of tough luck when she hit a liner right back to the shortstop, who made an unassisted double play to get CUNE out of the inning.

  • Jorjanna King came up with MACU's first RBI of the season on her hit-by-pitch, finishing with the final stat line of 0-for-1 with a walk and hit-by-pitch.
  • It was a tough outing in the circle for Nyssa Dunn making only her third collegiate start, finishing with 11 runs allowed with just six earned on 14 hits while walking only one and striking out one.

GAME SUMMARY
  • Mid-America Christian got off to a sensational start, pushing across four runs in the first inning by taking advantage of four walks while Jorjanna King added two RBIs by ripping a double to left to make it a 4-0 MACU lead.
  • After getting a run back in the third, Tabor closed the gap by scoring three runs on two hits, taking advantage of a pivotal MACU error with two outs to tie the game up at 4-4.
  • The Evangels immediately gained the lead back in the top of the fifth after drawing back-to-back walks to start the frame. Mia Macias brought in the first on a bunt single to third before Taylor Martinez grounded into a fielder's choice out to bring in one more to make it a 6-4 MACU advantage.
  • Unfortunately, the MACU defense struggled in the bottom half of the fifth, committing three errors in the frame that allowed the Bluejays to score three runs on only one hit to give Tabor the 7-6 edge.
  • The Evangels threatened to put together a big inning in the top of the sixth when Dakota Watson hit a leadoff single to center and Serena Rodriguez followed it up by doubling to center to put a pair in scoring position with no outs. Unfortunately, MACU only managed to push across one run on Kayten Herman's sac fly to tie the game at 7-7.
  • Tabor also threatened to put up a monster inning of its own in the bottom of the frame when a leadoff single and double for the Bluejays also put runners at second and third with no outs. However, MACU reliever Emmerson Dickinson got out of the jam in a big way by inducing a groundout to third to keep the runners at bay before Taylor Martinez threw out the runner going to home on a fielder's choice, before ending the frame on another groundout to Martinez to keep it a 7-7 game.
  • The Evangels once again had the chance to take the lead in the top of the seventh when Macias reached on a one-out single to center before advancing to second on a wild pitch and third on Martinez's single to center, putting runners at first and third with two outs. However, MACU was unable to push across the go-ahead run.
  • Unfortunately, another MACU defensive mistake proved to be the Evangels downfall in the bottom of the seventh. After the Bluejays leadoff hitter reached on a fielding error by the third baseman, they moved the runner to second on a sac bunt and to third on a groundout, before TC's Kaylee Cross hit a grounded single to third to bring in the winning run on a walk-off and seal the 8-7 result.
GAME NOTES
  • Tabor scored its eight runs on nine hits while the Evangels recorded their seven runs on 11 hits, but made five defensive miscues that heavily impacted the result.
  • Mia Macias led three hitters that finished with multiple hits, slashing 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI while Serena Rodriguez batted 2-for-3 with a double and a run as well as Dakota Watson finished 2-for-4 with a run as well.
  • Jorjanna King came up with MACU's first multi-RBI game, batting 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while Kayten Herman batted 0-for-1 with two walks, and RBI, and scored two runs.
  • Kylie Flores joined Herman with two runs in the game, batting 1-for-3 with a walk.
  • The MACU pitching tandem of Nyssa Dunn and Emmerson Dickinson combined to only allow one earned run on nine hits with just one walk and four strikeouts.
