James Roberson Elevated to Head Men’s Soccer Coach

OKLAHOMA CITY – A staple to the success of the Men's Soccer program over the last seven years, Mid-America Christian University Athletics is proud to announce that longtime assistant coach James Roberson is being elevated to the team's Head Coach.

First joining the MACU Men's Soccer team as an Assistant Coach in 2019, Roberson has been instrumental in raising the Evangels to national prominence, which includes winning four Sooner Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles, an NCCAA National Championship during the 2019 campaign, as well as five NAIA Tournament appearances.

"James has been an integral part of the MACU Men's Soccer family for the past seven years," stated MACU Athletic Director Marcus Moeller. "He has worked a long time to earn the opportunity to lead this program, and we look forward to watching his leadership grow in this new role."

In Roberson's seven-year tenure, the Evangels have amassed an astounding 113-22-19 (.795) overall record while going 48-4-10 (.855) in SAC competition, which included a 42-game conference undefeated streak from 2021-25. The Evangels captured league tournament titles from 2020-23 and SAC regular season titles from 2021-24. In the spring of 2024, Roberson was elevated to the role of Associate Head Coach.

"I'm honored to step into the role of head men's soccer coach at MACU," remarked Roberson. "This program has a strong foundation and I'm excited to build on that by developing great players, great teammates, and great young men. Our goal is to compete at a high level while representing the university on-and-off the field to the highest of standards."

Mid-America Christian will immediately begin a national search for a new Assistant Coach.
