Multiple Student-Athletes Honored at MACU Spring Banquet

OKLAHOMA CITY – Mid-America Christian held its annual Spring Awards Banquet on Saturday night at the Fordson Hotel as multiple student-athletes across the MACU Athletics programs were honored.

The athletic honors are voted upon by a select Athletics committee with the vote based on the student-athlete's performance in his or her respective sport.

Male Athlete of the Year: Nick Hill (Baseball)
  • In his first season with the Evangels, junior third baseman Nick Hill has put up eye-popping numbers from the plate. Hill broke MACU's NAIA Era single season home run record last weekend against Science & Arts while adding another to end the regular season with 18.
  • Hill also ranks in the top 10 in several other statistical categories, including: slugging percentage (.816, 2nd), OPSU (1.259, 5th), RBIs (60, 5th), total bases (124, 6th), and consecutive hit streak (15, 4th).
  • Overall, Hill this season is hitting for a stellar .362 batting average, slashing 55-for-152 with 15 doubles, 47 runs scored, 23 walks, 11 stolen bases, and a .443 on-base percentage.
Female Athlete of the Year: Cammy Hargrove (Women's Soccer)
  • In her fourth year with the MACU Women's Soccer program, defender and midfielder Cammy Hargrove continued to be the heartbeat of the team.
  • On-top of being the Team Captain for the last three-and-a-half years, Hargrove became only the second player in program history to be named an All-Sooner Athletic Conference First Team honoree as well as named the SAC Defensive Player of the Year for the 2025 season.
  • Hargrove is tied for the program record for career minutes played (6552) and ranks seventh in games played (77).
  • Helped guide MACU to NAIA Tournament appearances in back-to-back seasons, including getting the program's first NAIA tourney win by a score of 6-0 against Talladega on Nov. 20.
Freshman of the Year: Seyi Atolagbe (Women's Volleyball)
  • In her first year with the program, blocker Seyi Atolagbe put up eye-popping numbers from the middle, registering the second-most kills on the team (286, 2.33 per set) on a program record .379 attack percentage and notched the 10th-most blocks (82) in MACU's single season record book.
  • On-top of being named an All-SAC First Team honoree, Atolagbe became just the second Evangel to earn SAC Freshman of the Year accolades.
  • Atolagbe also became just the fifth different Evangel to be named an NCCAA All-American since the program moved up to the Division I level in 2007.
Newcomer of the Year: Liam Taft (Baseball)
  • A junior right-handed pitcher, Liam Taft took over the closer's role for the Evangels early in the season and ran away with it, as his 12 saves ranks as the most by a MACU player since joining the NAIA in 2008.
  • On-top of the saves record, Taft has also put up stellar all-around numbers as his 2.50 ERA currently ranks as the seventh-lowest in MACU's season record book while also owning the fourth-lowest WHIP (1.06), sixth-lowest opponent batting average (.206), and sits just outside the top 10 with a 3.4 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
  • Not only does his 12 saves lead the SAC, but it also ranks second in all of the NAIA and is the top mark in the NCCAA.
Heart of the Evangel: Kealy Juarez (Women's Soccer)
  • The only "unanimous" vote amongst the committee, Kealy Juarez was considered a no doubt selection due to love of MACU, her integrity, and how much she has embraced being an embodiment of "The MACU Family."
  • On-top of competing with the women's soccer team over the last four years, Juarez has been heavily involved with all of MACU's Athletic programs and the campus community as a whole, working as a student athletic trainer for three years with MACU's Athletic Training team on-top of being a student-worker supervisor in the O'Brien Training Center weight room.
  • Outside of Athletics, Juarez has served as a Resident Assistant (RA) for McCutcheon Hall the 2025-26 school year and is also serving an internship with a local accounting firm.
  • Has served as a Women's Soccer Team Captain this spring and will be a Team Captain for her last season this coming fall.
